I have one removed from a 1965 Caravel. works fine and it is removed sitting in my garage in South Carolina (Charleston) 29445 it is Brown in color and pretty clean, un damaged

you are correct....the D seal is to small...I purchased some similar D seal buit larger and made from silicone.....I used contact cement to make a good adhesion....its white and works well
