Best Time

There is only one BEST TIME to buy an Airstream. That is the time when you find the right model, in the right condition, at a price you are willing to pay.
The best used Airstreams bring top dollar...

I have used a ramp to remove flat tires for many years on two and three axle Airstreams. To keep it from sliding on smooth pavement, I put a rubber mat under it. I have also reduced the need for it...

Reservations

KOA has a business practice that I find offensive. When you make a reservation, you are required to give them a credit card number. They charge your credit card before you can get off the phone. Most...

Goodyear Marathon Failures

To answer a question from Dave in Elgin,
Walker Tire was not the dealer. The Goodyear dealer was one called Goodyear Auto Service Center. I'd rather not say which one.

Dave, you sure have a good...

Goodyear Marathon Failures

Thank you all for your comments. I am aware of the 65mph and 65psi specifications on the ST225/75R15 load range D Marathon and did follow them. I replaced it with a Maxxis M8008 ST225/75R15 load...

Goodyear Marathon Failures

I replaced two tires on 8/24/2006. the date codes were 1006 on both. On 11/25/2006, one of the tires failed when the sidewall separated from the tread. The local Goodyear dealer could find no reason...

A Better Way

I suggest that you don't need to worry about where to place the jack.
I use a ramp. Place it under the good wheel and tire. Drive up on it.
Remove or replace the bad wheel and tire. This is safer...

Thanks for the invitation. Margaret and I will arrive on Friday the 8th.
If you could arrange snow for the 9th, that would be very nice.

Smile Tire Replacement

My Airstream blew a tire returning from Colorado two weeks ago. I carry a spare wheel with mounted tire and a ramp to use as a jack.
Discount Tire ordered a D rated Goodyear Marathon for me and...

Tow Power

The vehicles you list would all do a very good job, but, unless you intend to take the Safari off road, they are all much more vehicle than you need. I have towed a 34' and now a 31' Excella with a...
