Make sure your negative battery cable is not full of corrosion.... run a new ground to test with such as a jumper cable on negative (-battery) to chassis.

The "Sticky" is the adhesive used in the vinyl that covers the interior skin. It doesnt seem to be airborne. In my unit the sticky is only on the interior skin and nowhere else.
