31' project
4 Attachment(s)
I'm using the Caswell airway 10" wheel with red compound on most areas and then black if needed.

The pic's below show with only a quick Dawn liquid wash, the heavy black needs mineral sprints to remove before the white compound is used.

I spent about 10 hours to complete one side.

Ok, what better way to spend a holiday weekend then polishing!

Finished the black/red pass total 26 hours, now yesterday did 1 side and whole front in 8 hours, so 8 more to finish.

50 hours isn't that bad for a 31', with this system I think.

This pass I'm using a 10" white cotton wheel 1" wide with white compound.

It is a mirror finish :D except for corners and places where that size wheel just don't fit.

I used mineral spirits and tried acetone to clean the black off, didn't do that much.

Here's my current issue, I Turtle waxed the newly polished half just so it doesn't oxidize, that foam pad was black in 2 minutes.

Not sure I needed to wax it because the white compound I'm told has wax in it anyway??

After waxing it got a little dull, it appears the black was pulled to the surface and smeared the surface.

But from a few feet away it is gorgeous.

Any thoughts?

It takes a lot to clean up after the compounds. Bare aluminum that was never compounded might bring some black to the polish rag as well. You might try it on some to get a reference point.

I'm not planning to add anything to mine after I finish with Nuvite S.

Mine looked good after the compounding, but it looks better after the Cyclo and Nuvite S. It evens it out and brings the shine up a couple more notches. I'm getting quite a bit of black on the Cyclo cloths with the Nuvite.

This was my first polish job. Everything I learn is something new.

I found soap and sponge take it right off. Just like you wash your car. Came right off on mine. I was trying all kinds of stuff. But soap and water worked the best and is easy.

I tried soap didn't work for me at all, maybe the black crud is different in NY:lol:
