My new Dolly!
4 Attachment(s)
:) Hi, I have built, or rebuilt, myself a new Dollie. Actually the story goes something like this: I have a Yamaha 2400 portable generator and I keep it on a furniture mover's Dollie. A standard size furniture mover's Dollie would probably hold two Honda 2000's, too big. So I bought a small mover's Dollie, but it was too small. And whenever I moved my generator on less than smooth ground, my generator tries to slide off of it. Then I saw a picture posted by Denis4x4 showing his solution to carrying his Honda 2000 generator on top of his battery box; I thought this might be the answer to the too large, too small, and poor fitting Dollies. I bought a piece of wood and did a total re-make of the small furniture mover's Dollie. I made it slightly larger, made cut-outs for the rubber feet, stained it, and put little pieces of carpeting in the cut-outs. Now my new Dollie fits my Generator and it won't slide off when moving it around. Thank You Denis4x4 for the idea that inspired my latest project. :D

:) Hi, Neil. I wish I knew; I am trying to do everything I can to get my trailer ready for another long trip. We want to do Alaska and I'm raring to go. I guess everything around here has to be just right before we commit. Dusty is very old and has never been on a long car ride yet alone a trip with a trailer. I think he might like it as a bucket list item if that's possible. [bucket list for us too]

Just read this post and a light bulb went on in my head for another use for a dolly like that. I use a AirSafe hitch and Reese head and the thing is heavy. I use a small 2 step stool to store the hitch on when not in use on the truck so I don't have to lift it very far to attach it to the receiver.
I plan to put the stool on a dolly like that to make the job of reinstalling and moving the hitch around the shed much easier.
If I feel super energetic I might even do away with the step stool and build a cradle on the dolly.
My back thanks you!
