Need a water inlet door key 1979 TW
Hey, Does anyone have a 1979 25' Tradewind? I have no key to the water inlet door. It is in the locked and opened position so I can't close it. I was told that another 1979 water door key would be the same. I bought a new lock but there is no access from the back to change this out. I don't want to pay the $200 for a locksmith to come out and make one. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

you might see a number on the lock face. a popular key is CH751 and is available online or a locksmith can cut it by code number.

i checked
I checked the lock. There is no code on it or anything for that matter. I will try the code you gave me. How did you come up with that code?

I just looked at ours and it has the same CH 751 in a circle that is raised. On the other side it says Wartian Lock Co If you PM me with your phone # we can talk. I can get another made, but our trailer is on Ebay and the auction ends tomorrow Monday July 26th in the afternoon and we have several who maybe lined up to buy.

almost everything airstream has been asked and answered here on the forum. use the google search. welcome to the forum grasshopper :-)

it is also a common key to other trailer brands. if you were at a campground you'd have no problem finding one!

I would love to have a copy of your water hatch key. (Coloradobus) Thanks! 706-455-5323
If for some reason that does not work, Richinny, you have a great idea! I am camping in Helen at Entoa next week. There will be tons of people there. Maybe I can try some keys. The worst part it that it is opened and the lock latch is out so I cant even push it close and tape it or anything. So I have to worry about stuff falling in there. I tried a stopper in the intet but due to the door carriage it wont stay in place. A Wine cork is too narrow. Would rather just find a key and solve the problem.

If a CH 751 key will work any RV dealer should have buckets full of them. It is almost a universal key for most SOB trailer compartments and every new trailer comes with 2 of them for each compartment. This key for many years would also open most truck caps, Checker Cabs, and a lot of utility buildings. There are other locks out there. most will have a number on them. Basically anything that takes this key might as well be left unlocked
