67 Caravel Bathroom
I recently gutted the rear bathroom of my 1967 Caravel. The shower pan is in decent shape but the sink and cabinet has cracks in the fiberglass. Everything of course is old and dirty. I'd like to replace everything if I can find sink, shower pan etc. that would fit without too much trouble. Are there replacement fixtures available anywhere?

Me too!!!
I dont have cracks but the sink is pretty faded
and unfortunately not a nice color to begin with.
I have contacted a fiberglass refinisher that
I found in the phone book. They said it would be
about $300 to refinish the fiberglass in a diffrent
Overlander64 has had this done and his looks
beautiful. Too bad our pictures are down.
I tried fiberglass polish from a marine store. No

Greetings Heidi and Bpaolini!

The services of a professional refinisher can return the bahtroom fixtures to like-new condition for far less than new fixtures would cost if they were available. Repairs are even possible with most of the fixtures as well. There are at least three kinds of plastic in most 60s era bathrooms - - fiberglass, ABS plastic, and an "indeterminate" plastic according to my refinisher. It took three different methods of preparation, primer/surfacers, and paints in the refinish process for my Overlander. The total cost was approximately $575. The refinisher who did my work didn't advertise and worked strictly on referrals from local plumbing contractors - - I had three other estimates ranging from $775.00 to $1,275.00. The finished product is below - - the original color was a yellowed avacado green - - the new color is antique peweter.

Thanks. I really appreciate the information. I've already looked in the phone book and there are several fiberglass refinishers in my area. I'm new to the forum but it looks like it will be a great help in refurbishing my trailer. Thanks again.

Kevin- All I can say is wow to both pictures!

Bpaolini- Send some pictures if you can.

I think we have less area to cover in
the Caravel. Pretty tiny little bathroom.
Mine is a dark yellow. Not too attractive.
(water heater issues are next on the agenda tho...:) )
