PTS7000 Generator

We reciently purchased a 1996 36' LY Clipper. It came with a PTS7000 diesel generator set. The genset will not turn off from the coach. When I push the button(s) the set sounds like it is going to shut off but begins to diesel (makes a hell of racket). I have to go to the set itself to turn it off.
Anybody run into this problem?:confused:
