rally suggestions tell me what you think
[I][SIZE=1][FONT=century gothic][COLOR=teal]I had such a good time at moraine view that I have been looking at parks in the northern part of Illinois to accomidate those who are closer to Chicago. I know someone mentioned Starved Rock Park. My husband mentioned Rock Cut Park.Someone even said lets have it in Michigan, but too many people wouldn't be able to come then. So with my Illinois park book in hand I started to search.....and I came up with these parks: Illini State Park,Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Park,Lowden State park,Rock Cut State Park,Shabbona Lake State Park,Starved Rock State Park, and White Pines States Park in the Northwest Region of Illinois. I found another state park even closer to Chicago which is Illinois Beach State Park. Well I'm just making some suggestions. I don't mean to step on any toes. Just tell me what you think please!!!
Quite honestly any place is great. As we found out with the Midwest rally, the number of days for the rally will affect how far people are willing to travel. Ike and Sue Eikelberg for example came the furthest (411 miles) from Saganaw Michigan. That's a goodly drive but if you look at the rest of us we all were no further than 3-4 hours from home.
Draw a circle around your choices at about 200 miles. That will probably be your draw for a weekend rally.
Next year I would like to propose a week long rally. Most likely in a destination location, possibly Door County Wi, Mackinaw Mi, Branson Mo., just to name a few ideas. Any of these spots are worth the drive and have things to do outside of the campground activities.
Check out this link. We have a discussion going on currently on the same subject....
Maybe we can merge the two threads together?
Those are all great ideas. Thanks for replying. The thing that I'm concerned about is disabled people. My mother-in-law has a bad back and is diabetic. She doesn't ride very well in the car for long periods of time. The only time she rides for a long time is when she takes the trailer to St.Louis to be serviced. I highly doubt she will drive further than 5 hours to go to a rally, because of her back. If other people are willing to do it then that's good, but you can count my family out for the big road trips. I guess you can't make everyone happy!
