'48 Trailwind

Well, I guess we are a legit sub forum now. Not sure why we were left out in the first place but here we are now. To start things off, I (Ben Clark or Benjo) just recently acquired a 1948 Trailwind from an elderly lady down in J'ville, FL. ans my wife and I have just begun the process of restoration so we are still considered newbies in the Airstream community. We have serial number 5018 for those that are keeping up with it. It would be nice to hear from some of you that own Trailwinds so we can swap notes on this particular coach. Look forward to chatting with you all. Take care, B

Great find. Acording to this: Vintage Airstream - '48 trailwind
You have the 18th and last 19 foot Trailwind built.

Our research has led us to believe we have the last of the "no-name nineteen" until they through it out to the public to name the coach "Trailwind". Now if my calculation is right, if they started the Trailwind at 5000 that would lead me to believe we have the 19th "no-name nineteen". The jury is still out on it but that's what we have found to be true thus far.

Newsflash...we have reached a conclusion that we have an 18 foot 49 Trailwind. After scanning through Rjs website and taking measurements it's spot on. I also was tipped off after listening to the VAC podcast as Frank was explaining the 40's models specifically the added coupler. That did it and set it apart from the 19ft 48. So there you have it. Reckon we'll need to change the title now from 48 to 49??? Also, will need to pass this info to Rj so they can update the site with the updated serial numbers. Case closed.

Here's a pic. We had to flatbed the coach from Florida to Alabama.
