What is the diffrence between 1978 Argosy 28ft & Airstream 28 ft and what year did they start gray water tanks.

I'm no expert on Airstreams; however, I do have a 78 Argosy. I believe you will find the Argosy lighter with a few new interior appointments that Airstream wanted to try out before putting them in the more expensive trailers. Probably more plastic and more window space. The wrap around front window was an Argosy feature before they used it in the Airstreams. I personally love the Argosys and don't think I could trade "down" to the silver. The layout inside probably isn't much different. Hey, I just noticed you are right down the road from me. I go to Prague several times a week. I have only seen one older Airstream down there right off highway 99. Is that you?

One of the most remarkable differences if your coach happens to have the rear beddroom is the wrap-around rear window with the deep-wrap wing windows. This is a feature that wouldn't appear on Airstream rear bedroom coaches for several years.

Floorplans between the two coaches of similar size and vintage are quite comparable. Manufacturers of the major appliances, optional air conditioner, and system components such as furnace and water heater would be the same between the Argosy 28 and the Airstream Ambassador. Due to the more modest list of standard features, the base empty weight of the Argosy was often somewhat less than the comparable Airstrea; but that difference could quickly disappear depending upon options selected.

Good luck with your research!

One other difference is the end caps. The Argosy has a one piece steel end cap at each end instead of the multi segmented aluminum pannels.
