Hensley Stinger Cover

I leave the stinger on my Hensley hitch because it is easier to unhitch and leave the Enkay RockTamer mudflap protectors in place. I usually grease the part that goes into the truck receiver for easy in hitching but that leaves the stinger out there to get grease on my leg or pants if I'm not careful. My project was to find a 6" receiver tube with a measurement of 2.5" from the edge to the middle of the hole the hitch pin goes through. I found one 6.5" long and the required 2.5" to the hitch pin hole at Tractor Supply for less than $15. My plan is to have a small plate welded to the open end to close up the hole except for a small air hole at the bottom of the plate, put putty in the hitch pin holes then dip the outside of the receiver tube in bright blue Performix PlastiDip multiple times to build up a thick rubber coating. This will give me a no-slip grip with weather protection and no grease to get me when I walk by. The color also stands out to keep people from bumping their shins on. You can picture what the finished project will look like when through by looking at the beginning of this project.

I think I would use the red plastidip
RED means stop where ever you go.
Nice job!

I use a plastic grocery bag - just tie it on by the handles and dispose of it when it gets too grody.
