How to measure TT

We are new to this sport, hobby, whatever. Have been looking for a small travel trailer for several months and have narrowed it down between an Airstream and one other brand. We found a 92 Airstream Excella. The owner states it is 28 feet. In his notebook full of Airstream and appliance manuals, he has highlighted everything pertaining to 28 feet. My husband and I both measured it. One of us measured at 32+ feet and the other at 33 feet (give or take a few inches). Of ALL the TTs we've looked at, when they quote length they always include the bumper and the hitch. No exceptions. IS AIRSTREAM DIFFERENT? For some reason, do they not include the hitch & bumper in their length quote? For the life of me, I can't figure out why the owner would claim 28ft when it clearly measures 32-33 feet, total. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Betty Jo

Measuring

A/S are measured from rear bumper to hitch ball.

You might in line to get a real bargain if the PO is pricing the unit as a 28'.

Thank you John. The fellow is pricing it at $10,000 which seems like a bargain to me, even if it were only 28 feet. I'm sure it's between 32 -33. Maybe I should look at this a little closer huh?

It's interesting to see how manufacturers quote lengths of their trailers. My old SOB was a model 26-FB. Length? 28'. Airstream calls my Safari a 27' model. Well yea sort of. Official length as stated in their brochure? 27' 11". Those 11" sometimes make a difference if you tell the campground checkin person that you only need a spot for a 27 footer. Conversley it may be the difference in them letting you get the last spot that may be a little on the short side.
