Floor Plans
Is there some site I can go to to look at floor plans for Airstream trailers from 16 to 23 foot?

Hello Chris,

Welcome to the Forums -- may your Airstream interests be kept alive! Many happy returns (to this website that is...).

It's interesting trying to interpret questions that various members ask. Yours seems straightforward enough but please speak up if this isn't what you wanted.

Vintage -- I don't know that there is a single site. There is an unpredictable scattering of floor plans posted by only a few members here. There is one good photo site for 1979 and earlier: Be aware that the photos are of the specific trailer(s) available and may not reflect all variations possible; eg, double bed vs. twin.

Just to cover the waterfront -- New:

Fred Caldwell has a nice collection on his website:

Roger: That's a superlative first name, but its not me. Some other generous soul with a fabulous first name owns this web site. He doesn't list his last name anyplace that I can easily find, so I don't know who he is.

That would be Fred Hinds...he used to own a Classic but IIRC he is Airstreamless at the moment, but still maintains the website for our eddification and enjoyment.

Senior moments?
Sorry Fred, I was under the mistaken impression that was one of your many undertakings. Also sorry for misspelling your last name.
Well, it's a handy website all the same.

Thanks, Rog, that was just what I was looking for.

WOW! Rog, that was really a helpful tip. Looks like an 18' Caravel is what I'm after. Looks perfect for the week long trips we want to take.

You are quite welcome for the info, Chris. If you are hell-bent on a small (under 20') vintage trailer, you might want to refer to my eBay watch column in the Summer '05 edition of Airstream Life magazine for more info. They are out there but you will have to be very quick on the trigger if you find one in good condition.
Best of luck to you in your quest.

Where would I find that, Rog? Do you have a link?

great sites, I have been trying to figure out how to ask the question and could not, but found this link.
We are just beginning our search and trying to understand the layout - floorplans has been hard. we know we want 25 to 30 ft, and we know the weight we can haul, and that we want a queen bed.
But how to find that?
more research.

Hi Nancy -- Welcome to the Forums! I can't say there's an absolute best source for floor plans. If you look at my post #2 in this thread, the link shows each of the current models. If you select one model type another window opens that will offer a link to floorplans for that model. The link I gave tends to have photographs only, and then for models older than 1981.

The 8'6" wide Airstreams began in about 1994 for models over 22' long. Longer trailers in the 1980s tended to have frame problems, resulting in beefier frames since then. Restorations of older Airstreams are usually do-it-yourself driveway projects and can get quite involved. Longer lengths like you're talking tend to get into 3/4-ton truck or SUV tow vehicles. You ready? We all made the leap into the big aluminum pond! Do you know what period you're shooting for?
