Water pump replacement

I want to replace my water pump on my 1991 250 Classic.

According to my VIN lookup on the AC Delco site, I have two options:

$117 ACDelco 251-612 GM Original Equipment Water Pump with Gasket
$50 ACDelco 252-608 Professional Water Pump with Housing

My sense is to get the cheaper professional water pump, given that it is 'professional' and seventy bucks cheaper.

Can anyone tell me if I am missing something here? Why is the better product so much cheaper?

I replaced my fan clutch about five years ago, should I bother replacing that as well? It seems to work fine. It was a AC Delco heavy duty one.

Thanks all for your help!

all the best

Nick

Adjectives are a cheap way to make up for shortcomings.

If there is that much difference in the price of 2 water pumps there is that much difference in the 2 pumps. The difference may be in the rated flow rate or just the quality of the pump. Buy the one with the higher flow rating.
