Towing With a Volvo?

Hello,

Waiting for my 1972 31' sovereign to arrive in the UK and have been looking over towing vehicles. I need one just to get it from the docks to a workshop so not alot of towing.

The trailer has no tanks, gas bottles and the interior is stripped to just walls and cabinets.

The factory dry weight of the trailer is 4900lbs and a volvo estate's max towing cap is 3968lbs. I was wondering if this is too much of a difference even with the stripped interior?

Thank you.

More importantly, you're not supposed to be using electric brakes or weight distribution over in Blighty - assuming the rules have not changed. The entire trailer needs to be reconfigured, no?

If they haven't then I personally would pay for a towing company to get the trailer off the docs and into the workshop.

Thanks for your reply. Yes the brakes are an issue as well as it being too large for my licence! but was planning to just try and get away with it. Also will use the car after brakes fitted.

But you are probably right though and will do some research on towing company.
