'61 22' Safari floor plan modeling

Hi All,

I'm using Sketchup (free version) to model out my rebuild. It's so handy for figuring out what can actually fit. I'm going for a 4 twin layout because our family of 4 would rather have their own twin then share a double. To make it work the twins have to be "bunk size", about 30"X 72". We also have lots of "stuff" so I need storage. I never see 4 twin layouts so I wonder if I am missing something. Input welcome. :)

Check out our thread about our 1986 excella, we made it into a bunkhouse. It works beautifully for our family.

Here are some pics, though we added more bunks than you need to.

Skatiero, thanks...how do I find your thread?

What are the smallest bunk you can tolerate as an adult? I'm 6" 190lbs and I think I can handle 75" X 30".

Looks like you have some mattresses that have rounded corners? Are those original?

I'm thinking to buy some thick foam and cut the rounded corners. I know there are custom mattress shops out there, but I'm guess they are mucho $$$.

Composting toilet in wet bath

Hi Jason,
I am very excited to see that you will be using a composting toilet in a wet bath. I'm remodeling a '74 Tradewind with a complete new floorplan and plan on doing exactly the same! LOVE the concept of composting toilets. Which model will you be using? I emailed Nature's Head a while back and they confirmed that you can use theirs in a wet bath, just drill some drain holes in the liquid container HOLDER (not the bottle - :D).

Also, I have an inexpensive Ikea foam mattress that I cut to size and topped with a 3" memory foam topper - very comfy!

Hi Martina,

Haven't got that far on the toilet models...just trying to finalize my floor plan so I can finish the wiring and plumbing in the walls and get my inside skins back in. Good to know about the IKEA mattresses!

Thanks,
