noisy frig fan

Brian,
How is the fan cooling the frig doing? Does it run much or seem noisy like mine?

murreywalker 10-15-2014 02:25 PM

Shastalorie, as far as I know, there's no refrigerator cooling fan in the 25. There's a chimney on top and it does the job quite well.

Hello.....I am new here. I am just beginning to "research" this life style. My wife and I will be retiring in about 3-1/2 years from now. The idea of traveling around the country with an Airstream trailer is very appealing to both of us. However, of course, we have never done this before. Any suggestions as a first step?

Thank you for your time.

Go sit in one for an hour......

We towed New Lucy over to Jacksonville today. Olivia, the '05 Suburban, did the towing duties. The 300+ mile run went very well. New Lucy pulls nicely with the ten year old Hensley and the ten year old Suburban. The weather along I-10 was great, and we arrived in Jacksonville in time to make camp before it got dark. Tonight will be our first night in New Lucy.

Hi Lorie, I haven't heard any refrigerator fan in the new 25FB. I don't think that New Lucy even has one as there is no upper outside refrigerator vent access like our 23FB had.

We slept well the first night in new Lucy. It was 58 degrees here in Jacksonville this morning, so we got to try out the heat pump. It got the temperature up to 70 from 66 in pretty quick order. It did create a little condensation on the cold ceiling, but it dried off by the second round of the heat pump.

The new fixed television antenna works well here in Jacksonville. We are getting about 25 channels including all of the major networks. Of course, we are in the middle of a big city.

jfyi: 2015 25RB FC does not have a roof vent for the fridge, it has to panels on street side, the lower panel is access to all the important stuff, the top one is where the fan and thermistor live.

Brian

Been the same TP holder location in both our last Eddie 25 and New Eddie. Not really hidden ...just inside the sliding door under the cabinet.

There is a refrig roof vent on the 25FB but just a single access door on the side... don't remember ever hearing any fan noise on either the 2013 or the 2015.

Our mirror is glass (???) concerned about putting excessive load on it for holding open ... working on magnetic catch ...

Photobum: Guess that's a good start. There is a AS dealership about an hour away in Fairfield, CA. Better take the wife along with me. Thank you.

On a side note.......New AS versus Used AS.........Any thoughts?

That's not good, IMO.

That was one of the things I really disliked with my 2011 FC23 FB; the refer fan never cycled off! That is, until I had a cutoff switch installed in order to get a decent night's sleep.

Perhaps that's not an issue with the new "quiet" ducting. ;-)

)

The fans that Airstream puts in their fridge compartments are very poor quality. I replaced ours with a quiet bearing-ed fan, now it can't be heard inside at all. A very simple fix.

I just did a little research. The 25RB has the upper refrigerator access panel with the little. The 25FB does not. Go figure.

I guess that is due to the microwave/convention oven in the rear bed front dinette 25s. No microwave in the 25fb over the fridge even if you only have the gas oven. I guess they can't lower the fridge because there is too much stuff under the fridge to move in the 25fb.

Brian (aka Moose)

Where are you camping in Jacks? That's only a couple hour trip for us.

moosetags 10-16-2014 09:56 AM

We are camped in SuEllyn's Dad's yard. We have full hook-ups here. We're here for SuEllyn's Dad's Birthday. He will be 97 tomorrow. Our fourth son and his family are also here.

Gene 10-16-2014 12:07 PM

Am I correct that SuEllyn's father was 70 when she was born?

SuEllyn said that you are correct, Gene.

New Lucy is now connected to city water and sewer. We have only dumped gray so far, and systems are working properly. I sure do like the new digital tank and battery monitoring system. I also like the little green light that shows that the water pump in turned on.

Noisy Refrig fan, Should I buy an Airstream?

Love this forum. I wonder Brian if your 25 FC has a different frig arrangement Because you have front bedroom and we have rear bedroom. We are both 2015 25ft FC. The post about a quiet bearing type fan is great. We will definitely look into that. As a previous poster said we have the grid type panel on the outside by the frig. I am on fire about the noise. We have an appointment in Eugene to get a few things looked at.
In reply to the couple looking at a future airstream. I would talk to other owners and I wonder if you can rent one to try it out.
