Airstream Nudist Rally

Has there ever been one? Any interest in one?
I think that it might be quite liberating.

nvestysly 06-20-2013 08:35 PM

Sounds interesting but how would you wear your nametag?

Seriously, i'm not aware of such a rally. Let us know when you uncover the details. Are there ordinances/laws governing such things? Maybe it could be held at an existing nudist colony.

TinShack 06-20-2013 08:36 PM

Not that I know of. I'm sure it would it would be fun and interesting for some folks, but trust me, you don't want to see Mongo in his birthday suit.

Melody Ranch 06-20-2013 09:02 PM

Remember a few years ago I went to the Bluebonnet RV Park, north of Decatur, Tx., to help a fellow member here by doing an inspection on a Vintage Airstream??? A bright sunny day and a warm one at that. Yes Sir! got my attention as I drove to the site, in company of the Park Manager.....the pool area was great, however it was the Park residents doing lawn work and walking their dogs all around me as I tried to concentrate on the job at hand. I was invited to the clothing optional dinner and no clothing dance that evening. Had to pass on that.

RM66caravel 06-20-2013 09:02 PM

Sounds interesting would have been better for me 20 years ago before gravity and vanity took effect! But keep me posted anyway we may have a crazy day!

If anyone is interested, I'll volunteer to do the preliminary work on putting it together. To allow proper planning, I'd expect a time frame of Oct or Nov of 2013. Florida at that time of year is ideal, and as I’m familiar with the area, so it would be the venue that I‘d pick. PM me with your thoughts, and if the interest is there it will happen. For those who are uninformed, try googleing "American Association for Nude Recreation” or “AANR" and you will learn all there is to know about social nudity. You might be very surprised and wish to try something new and different. In any event feel free to chat with me in private. Your confidentiality will be respected.

worldinchaos 06-21-2013 12:19 PM

Would certainly be a good place for new Streamers to show off their under-renovation/restoration Airstream projects. That is, if they still have bare skins...

I'll show myself out.

But be sure to pack sunscreen.

Those of you attending Burning Man in your Airstream are of course free of any clothing restrictions save those you impose upon yourselves :wally:.

Sunscreen, as always, is a good idea - esp. for those parts less accustomed to solar exposure.

robwok 06-21-2013 02:03 PM

I laughed when I read the original title. I've seen a lot of gray hair on the guys in this forum. Even if you had a sight where you needed to look away, with all the shiny trailers, it would just be repeated over and over. Not to mention the chance of a double sunburn from reflection. I have a door within a door and almost burned my feet once ... I wouldn't go, but I'd stay up all night to listen to the stories after it happened. :)

Len n Jeanne 06-21-2013 03:13 PM

No, thank you. But your thread title sure got my attention.

Something like this could really take off.
I'll spare everyone having nightmares for the rest of their lives, though, and stay home.

But if everyone used sunscreen wouldn't you have to change the name to Tanning Man?

aireseneca 06-25-2013 05:19 PM

Nekked!

I was googling "boondocking" and ran into nudist camping message boards. There are nekked folk out in remote locations that get a kick out of it! These are unsanctioned, unprotected remote spots where anyone could get an eyeful!

Protagonist 06-25-2013 05:32 PM

A couple of years ago, back before I bought my Airstream, when I thought I was going to buy a live-aboard boat and do America's Great Loop, I participated in the "America's Great Loop Cruising Association" forums.

There, it was brought to everyone's attention that the great state of Vermont does not have laws against nudity, provided that it's in a location where one could reasonably expect privacy. Such as on a boat in the middle of a lake. Or in the case of Airstreamers, I guess that would apply off the beaten path at a boondocking site.

The upshot of the law is, in rural Vermont at least, if you're boondocking nekkid, and some unsuspecting Puritan should accidentally happen by and get offended, they can't have the nudist arrested for indecent exposure.

smbrewster54 06-25-2013 05:40 PM

So much for the Puritan values of New England.

aireseneca 06-25-2013 05:55 PM

I was trying to find OH boondocking sites....these are close to home and I recognized some of the parks and locations given. Guess I might want to wear shades when I'm out that way....or blinders like a horse!

I really don't want to see anybody else's anything.....

Nekkid Airstreams???? Not Nellie Air-stream-ers!!!! Nonononono

Hoonanea 08-18-2013 06:48 AM

Paso County in Florida, north of Tampa, has several legal clothing optional resorts -- many with facilities for RVs. TheWoodsRV.com is all RV and Park Models where you can own your lot. They would probably be able to host a small rally.

VtTim 08-18-2013 08:41 AM

I don't own an airstream yet, but I'd come.

ventport 08-18-2013 09:56 AM

Someone should have their wedding there. It would be real easy to tell who the best man was.

Kathleenh 08-20-2013 05:33 PM

I wonder how many people will go ahead and purchase that Airstream just so they can attend this rally?

VtTim 08-20-2013 05:38 PM

When we had our houseboat we opted for the least restrictive clothing, we really enjoyed coving out and sitting on the sun deck in chaise lounges soaking up the sun rays. Plenty of sunscreen and sun hats.

I would think that off the beaten path in the desert we could reach the same level of comfort.

I don't know if I could go buck nekkid! Maybe I could run around in tightey whiteys and a wife beater! I don't know about the dangling participles. It would be hard to walk or sit without the family jewels being strapped down, not to mention the embarrassment of a public arousal...

Airstream Nudist Rally

Love VT. When I used to mt bike there and follow the grundig races in the 90's they would have naked mt bike rides/races at mt snow the night after the real races. Ah the memories...

RM66caravel 12-29-2013 03:54 AM

Okay 1 last comment as for those that would be scarred for life! Me naked would haunt your thoughts for months and for the unexpected excitement I would be willing to bet that it would probably turn into some sort of contest and for the lust part! Remember the me naked part and that will not be a problem! 20 years in the corps were not kind to the bod!

bwoodtx & melodyranch - You both should be ashamed. Why can't you just admit that you both would drive clear across the country to attend an Airstream nude'ie rally.

Started to say I was all excited about attending this rally, then rethought that. Bad image. Open to interpretationn and all of it bad. But I agree with robwok ~ I'd never attend, but I'd stay up all night listening to all the great stories ;-). I'll supply the tequila shots for the evening. An historic event. Talk about creating memories!!!

Gene 12-29-2013 05:26 PM

In case no one noticed, winter is here and the threads get a bit different. While we wait for traveling season, we have a little fun and imaginations get excited.

I'll add this, judgmental or not, some people look bad clothed, so no clothes wouldn't be much different. No one forces you to look, though sometimes it is impossible not to sneak a glance. Public nudity used to be common at hot springs in the west. There are still such places. For example, between Ouray and Ridgway, Colorado,. there is a clothing optional hot springs. No one gets visibly excited (not sure about what happens underwater) or embarrassed, but those who would probably stay away. Once you go to a clothing optional hot springs, being dressed is the exception and nudity is normal. It just isn't a big deal. And you don't have a wet and heavy bathing suit to be concerned with. If you are obese, so are others, so if anyone stands out, it is those who are amazingly well formed—but bathing beauties and big time models don't usually show up. It doesn't appear anyone is there to gawk, just to relax in the healing waters.

Decades ago we hiked to hot springs far into the national forest in Colorado and New Mexico. It was rare to see anyone wearing a bathing suit. It just felt normal and natural. An unspoken rule was not to take photos of anyone you didn't know. I can't do backpacking anymore, but relaxing in a natural hot spring in the wilderness was a rare treat. Back 25 or 35 years ago, people looked a lot better than they do now—it isn't age so much as obesity.

There are threads for LGBT Airstreamers and vegetarian Airstreamers. But I haven't seen one for admitted nudists or atheists. Some things are just too controversial as yet.

Of course, to see naked people, you no longer have to backpack 5 or 10 miles into the wilderness or go to a clothing optional hot springs. All you need is the internet or an "adult" store. Funny how "adult" stores are universally understood to mean porn and thus all other stores are for children. Puritanism lives on.

A nude rally has little appeal to me. A hot spring is fine, but just walking around naked is no big deal either way. Sunburn is one reason, but I'm not sure what the point is otherwise. My clothes feel normal to me and if I want to walk around naked outside, we own enough land to do so. Of course, Google Earth and NSA will take your picture.

Now back to silliness. It is good on a cold and dreary winter day. Our Airstream is covered in snow and I'm not about to take my clothes off to frolic in it. Maybe I'll look for the Festivus thread and post my grievances.

Given that the median streamer age is somewhat beyond the archetype of the beauty for the human form. Some things may be better left to the imagination.

Melody Ranch - you are just the wealth of information!!!

robwok 12-30-2013 01:09 PM

But what would Wally think? All dressed up his beret and jacket.

My wife and I keep trying to figure out what to do with all the full length closets in our trailer. I'm probably putting in shelves, and only keeping 1 full length, just in case we travel to a wedding in the trailer. It seemed everyone was originally so formal. I can't imagine camping and wearing a tie, but I see the old time pictures of laborers wearing ties. The safety concerns alone, it just seemed odd.

Fast forward to a time when you folks are considering a cavorting around in your birthday suits, next to polished trailers. I say you folks, cause there's no way I'm showing up. Not that I look bad sans clothes, but it's like my bee meetings - most of my hobbies include people where the average age is about 65.

I guess it's not a bad thing if sight is the first to go...

John&Vicki 12-30-2013 01:15 PM

How about a rally where only one person is allowed to be naked each hour? Seems kind of boring to have everyone naked at once. Heck, there was a lot of that in the 60's, when we actually looked good.

Well, might be worth a looksee if there was nothing else to do, like polishing aluminum. Is this what's called sophomoric?

robert claus 12-30-2013 06:03 PM

Hey, I'll be there as long as I don't have to drive all the way to Florida! That's too long to have my butt sticking to the seat. Oh, wait a second - you undress AFTER you get there.

SteveSueMac 12-30-2013 06:23 PM

So all kidding aside (I myself included the Duluth Trading cartoon as a pretty good replica of me...) I imagine the thing about nudists is literally comfort in one's own skin. I get "sophomoric" at the thought because frankly, I don't have that level of comfort and if I'm being really honest, I'm envious of those who can live their life without worrying about what commercial advertisers say is an acceptable body. Maybe 0.000000001% of people look like Tom Brady or Halle Berry - why should 99.99999999% of the population be ashamed of that?

I dunno - just thinking out loud.

The Escapees RV club has intra-clubs (they call them "Birds of a feather"). And one of there Birds of a Feather is a social nudity group. Never hung out with them (oops is that a pun?) but I did have a talk with there president. Seemed to be a nice bunch.

Now that is insightful.

I remember bits of 1966, my much loved 3rd year sophomore year.
Sex, drugs & rock 'n roll. No belly. No wrinkles. Worry free, except for that pesky Minor in Possession  (a whole 6 pack of cold long necks as I was driving to the lake).

'66 was most definitely some kind of peak for me - I got married in '67. I was in Newport Beach, CA and there was a lot going on. One particularly fond memory is Spring Break week on Balboa. Days at the beach, body surfing at the Wedge, parties every night, no formal place to sleep but it always seemed to work out.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but there *was* a lot of nudity - nudity you could really appreciate.

I was 2 or 3, depending on which side of November you're on.
