Hi, we really enjoyed meeting you two, and Bailey, at Casini. Safe home, take care. Peter (and Scott)

Thank you. We also enjoyed talking with you. Got home about 1:30pm today. Hadn't really started raining yet, but now it is pouring just like Casini.

There wasn't much on the selling end of DO's at the sport show. I saw Susan, the president of the BOW, while I was there. Told her I was surprised that she didn't have a both. I thought maybe a both at the home and garden show might be good beings how there would be a ton of women there.
I got a Canon 50D, my learning curve has just gone vertical. Taking lighthouse pictures, good subject. All my lighthouse pictures are on film. Love digital, take it now, see it now. My new project in order to learn the camera is taking pictures of my neighborhood, "Shooting the Hood". It will be nice to have after I move to Redding. What kind of camera do you have?

I'm going to the Redding Sport show this weekend, do you want me to pick up a cook book for you? I always like to check out their prices. Last time I went they had some fabulous prices but I already have everything I need. It was very frustrating. How are you serviving the rain. I just got a new camera and trying to learn new things from the manual. It's only a 223 page manual, so I think my learning curve has just gone vertical.

Thanks for remembering us. Wish I could make it north for your rallies. Unfortunately, Don has decided to end our relationship. Such a big loss (the Airstream). Decided to live vicariously through this forum. That was a terrific trip, starting with Lassen and ending at Gros Ventre, Grand Tetons 2 months later. I can't promise that I would be better at keeping in touch, but if you see the group, please give everyone my Aloha.

Hi Dee, Just asked to be your friend. I guess I should have given you a little bit more information...Lassen Rally summer 2009.

the old cast iron is my main cooking ware. these new enameled DOs that cost $$$ sure look pretty but don't cook any better than the old cast iron, granted they don't rust, but they probably chip. cleanup of the cast iron doesn't have to be perfect and that's the way I like it. you mentioned abalone, or yes, yes, yes. I remember going with my dad, climbing down the cliffs and bringing back the abalone for breakfast, then going out the next minus tide and getting more to take home. That was when you didn't need a wet suit. I can tell we will have tales to tell around the campfire when we meet. Get those pots and pans out, they might have to be re seasoned, so get a can of crisco if you don't already have one.

The DO pot should have 3 legs on the bottom and the lid should be pretty flat with an edge to keep the coals from slidding off. Be sure to get those made in USA, Lodge is one maker. There are lots of ways to get them. Some sports shows will have someone selling them usually at a real nice price. You can get pricing at Lodge online to get an idea of how much they are regularly. Garage sales, flea markets are a good source. A 10 inch deep 4 quart size is a real good first pot. If you decide you like DO cooking then an 8 inch for baking cakes, and a 12 inch for bigger stuff. Just remember, the bigger the pot the heavier they get. The cast iron is the best way to go, I know of aluminum but haven't seen any, the aluminum are more subject to the cold and are harder to keep the temp up in cold weather. If you are back packing, then aluminum would be the way to go.

thanks for asking me to be your friend. Have you had a chance to look for Cee Dub's DO cookbooks? He has all kinds of storys too in his books. It may be hard to pick just one. LOL
