It is the original red mahogany. We were lucky the PO did not varnish or paint. We built new doors to replace the old oven space, lightly sanded and then used red mahogany Watco Oil of all of the wood. All of the hinges and knobs came off and were scrubed/buffed with comet cleanser. It was a lot of work but we love it. Thanks for looking....Tim
