Dennis, To continue our conversation, I traded my Tacoma for a new Tundra today. So that should be the end of my concerns regarding towing. Thanks for your help!

Dennis, I’m still trying to figure out this forum too. One thing you mentioned that caught my attention is the rooftop tent. I can’t imagine why you’d leave it on after buying the AS. Maybe it’s just a lot of work to take off. I don’t think we have more than a couple hundred pounds of stuff to go in the trailer at this point, and I keep refining my gear for the truck as well, so hopefully we won’t be starting out overweight. For now, I’m just ready to get in it, and go SOMEWHERE! It’s great talking to you. I wish we lived closer.
Oh, and yes, the dealer won’t let you off the lot without a WD hitch and a brake controller. I’m not even sure of the brand, but it looks beefy. I’m going with the Bluetooth brake controller. It just seems easier than having a switch mounted in the truck. Besides, I can take it with me when I need to trade up. ..... later

Dennis, well this is the third different response I have started in reply to your post. The first one was apparently sent to the site administrator by mistake, and the second, just a few minutes ago was lost when I sent a friend request to you.
So I'll try to recap. I was very interested in what you said about towing in the mountains with your Tacoma. Mine is only just over a year old, and I'd HATE to be faced with trading it right now. So, for now, we'll be starting with the Tacoma as our TV. I found a Cat Scale about a mile from the dealership so I think I'll take it there first thing and get an accurate empty weight. We're thinking of a two or three day trip to a nearby State Park for our shakedown cruise, before embarking on a longer trip to the Texas Coast.
I'm glad to hear you got your 19cb and are happy with it. I had more on here, but went over the word limit. !!!!!
