Hey! Yeah, my Dart is intended to tow the Globetrotter, it's a '68. I had a '65 Bug in highschool, i bought it in '78 from a little old lady, for 50 bucks a month for a year! It was perfect, and I'd love to get another one- the 65s were great. I'll have to look at Pardeeville on the map. My dad was from Monroe, and I go to Chicago a lot.

saw "Aircooled4", love it: grew up with Beetles and Squarebacks, but guess Aircooled4 could also mean an NSU 1000TT

I scored 4 - 16' 4x6's this weekend to brace up the shell.

    How was your rally?

    Check out this post.
I guess you don't need to have an old trailer to have sagging outriggers.

Aircooled4...sounds like a VW. We have very nice '67 bug (Hans) that we joke as our tow vehicle. One of these days, I'll photo-shop or some how fix up a digital photo of Hans pulling our Airstream. OB Bambi

Jay Yes hope to see you in May if we aren't off somewhere campin, but most likely I will be there. The tractors on the hats are ALLIS CHALMERS, we got them at OLD TIMERS DAYS in Xenia. That comes in the fall every yr. They have a website. They give /raffle off a tractor every yr.that was one of them.We have not had hats for several yrs because they are always sold out. They may have pics from this yrs Days on the website.I have JD =2 and IH Cub 129 + Some Gravleys. I have a shop and enjoy working on almost all brands of yard tractors and lawnmowers.

I'm in the thick of Amish country here in WI, but only 40 minutes north of Madison. Come park by my old barn, see the buggies go by on the road, and enjoy the peace and quiet! Only 15-20 minutes from I-90/94 and I-39.

After the initial flurry around the trailer between finding it, identifying it, buying it, and bringing it home, things have calmed down and I'm finally getting a chance to write more after a several-day sabatical.

Jay went down to the trailer this afternoon to take some more pictures; off course mine are more cosmetic/surface, and his are the nitty-gritty workings of the trailer for the most part. So here are a few more pics, some of which will help us out in restoring her to her...

It was a rainy day yesterday (9 Mar 10), so good for taking some more pics in the trailer. We found some of the leaks, mainly from windows that we suspected. But the whole thing will be a shell-off restoration anyway, so we're not too dismayed.

View towards the back:

Front shelf; here's where a leak is and has destroyed this:

What a wonderful feeling... we succeeded in bringing her all the way home today without a problem!! Jay took off ahead of us in the truck to go get it and my son and I followed shortly thereafter in the car. Jay already had the wheel on by the time we got there and was working on re-airing up the other tires. One of the other tires was going flat and Jay was out of air in the can, so we ran to town to get fix-a-flat and more air. We got back to the AS, jacked it up to free up the wheel, and...

Well, what would a journey be without a bump in the road?

Jay and our friend Kirt drove up early and started working on the trailer; I followed shortly afterwards in the car with the kids once they woke up. When I got there, we realized we had a 2" ball with us, but it had the wrong shank diameter (so I wonder how we ever ended up with it?? huh... but I digress). So I ran to town with my daughter to get a new one and we left "the boys" back at the trailer to get it...

Here is what we know so far. The WBCCI ghost numbers, 918, trace back to the 60's. The couple who owned this (and most likely bought it new) lived in LA. After contacting Dale "Pee Wee" Schwamborn, we learned that these were friends of his mothers, and therefore, probably at least acquaintances of Wally's. So far it does not appear that the trailer was ever involved in a world caravan, though that's exactly what it was built to do!

Amazingly enough, while looking at the Sierra...

Just read the whole thread: wow what a find! Alice has the exact formica that we have in our 55 Fying Cloud (so far unrestored but waiting for us in our newly-built shop). I wish our '55 were in as good shape as Alice. Someday!
