- I'm in the thick of Amish country here in WI, but only 40 minutes north of Madison. Come park by my old barn, see the buggies go by on the road, and enjoy the peace and quiet! Only 15-20 minutes from I-90/94 and I-39.

After the initial flurry around the trailer between finding it, identifying it, buying it, and bringing it home, things have calmed down and I'm finally getting a chance to write more after a several-day sabatical.
Jay went down to the trailer this afternoon to take some more pictures; off course mine are more cosmetic/surface, and his are the nitty-gritty workings of the trailer for the most part. So here are a few more pics, some of which will help us out in restoring her to her...

It was a rainy day yesterday (9 Mar 10), so good for taking some more pics in the trailer. We found some of the leaks, mainly from windows that we suspected. But the whole thing will be a shell-off restoration anyway, so we're not too dismayed.

Original lights are still on...

What a wonderful feeling... we succeeded in bringing her all the way home today without a problem!! Jay took off ahead of us in the truck to go get it and my son and I followed shortly thereafter in the car. Jay already had the wheel on by the time we got there and was working on re-airing up the other tires. One of the other tires was going flat and Jay was out of air in the can, so we ran to town to get fix-a-flat and more air. We got back to the AS, jacked it up to free up the wheel, and...

Well, what would a journey be without a bump in the road?
Jay and our friend Kirt drove up early and started working on the trailer; I followed shortly afterwards in the car with the kids once they woke up. When I got there, we realized we had a 2" ball with us, but it had the wrong shank diameter (so I wonder how we ever ended up with it?? huh... but I digress). So I ran to town with my daughter to get a new one and we left "the boys" back at the trailer to get it...

Here is what we know so far. The WBCCI ghost numbers, 918, trace back to the 60's. The couple who owned this (and most likely bought it new) lived in LA. After contacting Dale "Pee Wee" Schwamborn, we learned that these were friends of his mothers, and therefore, probably at least acquaintances of Wally's. So far it does not appear that the trailer was ever involved in a world caravan, though that's exactly what it was built to do!
Amazingly enough, while looking at the Sierra...

Just read the whole thread: wow what a find! Alice has the exact formica that we have in our 55 Fying Cloud (so far unrestored but waiting for us in our newly-built shop). I wish our '55 were in as good shape as Alice. Someday!
