Hi, I'm assuming you have an Explorer? Is it a 4 door? If it's a 2 door, I'd almost say to forget about it because of the short wheelbase. You will need "weight distribution" bars (that move the trailer tongue weight to the front of your truck... so that the rear doesn't take all the weight of the trailer tongue and decrease the control you have through the steering wheels), PLUS a sway control device (this is a friction type device that helps decrease the chance of sway developing).

Your year Explorer (if it's a 4 door) has a decrease in wheelbase vs. the newer models... I'd still be a bit hesitant to recommend it (the newer ones would be fine). The v-6 is a bit underpowered as well. If you have the v8, then you should be ok from a power perspective.
    My 2 cents.
    Marc

I have a 98 Ford Sport V6. Will it pull 24 ft Argosy up hills. Is it enough? Do I need sway bars?
