I used strip fast by Zinsser available at most big box stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Menards. About $23 per gallon. If your unit wasn't repainted with a broom like mine was with latex house paint, It will come off quickly. Just use a plastic scraper and a stiff nylon scrub brush(stripping brush) to remove the difficult stuff. You will have to work on it on the end caps as they have an epoxy primer which is difficult to remove. When done wash with soap and water followed by an automotive wax remover solvent (Mineral spirits works too) let dry and then sand with 320 wet or dry used wet or a red scotchbrite pad to give a tooth for your primer to stick. If you plan to spray it, invest in a gallon of epoxy auto primer ( you don't sand that)and be ready to paint within 72 hours for your top coat

The battery box in my trailer has a removable tray. Once the tray is removed there are fasteners thru the bottom to the floor. I think all I would have to do is remove those. Also my trailer has twin beds and the battery box is under the bed on the street side. I didn't disassemble the bed, but assume that it would be necessary to get the box out. It may have fasteners to the inner skin as well.
    Hope this helps.

I will have to go out and look at the battery box. Haven't had to remove mine. I'll do my best to let you know ASAP.
