Well you've made me feel a lot better about not wanting to put mine away I'm an elementary school teacher so we can only use ours on the weekends during the school year. I'm afraid if we store it, we'll never use it. We are hoping to extend our garage and redesign it to fit our airstream during the year...until then maybe I'll just let it sit on the driveway where I can admire it

I've just been a little nervous about water damage. Idomela's blog the other day showed photos of filiform corrosion and which got me thinking leaving it in the rainy (although mild) elements, might cause problems!

Thanks for your response...looking forward to using it on weekends...at least through November

That was exactly my thinking, "I didn't want to put it away," We do exactly like you mentioned -- we keep it at our house during winter so we can take it up skiing every weekend. We find it possible to do this because our furnace blows the heat over the pipes while also heating the interior of our AS - which will prevent the pipes from freezing. In addition we keep the hot water on as well -- all of this while we are sleeping in the AS up at skiing and also when we are at home and the temps outside dip below 40. When temps are above 40 we keep a small portable heater on.

We haven't had any problems with the constant rain (knock on wood).

My favorite time to go Airstreaming is off season -- all the campgrounds are practically yours, no traffic and it's awesome to cuddle up in the AS at night when it's chilly out (and even sometimes when it snows).

I was hoping you could answer a question for me about storing your AS. I see you also live in the PNW (we're in Portland) and I was wondering if you have covered storage for yours during the wet winters? We would really like to leave ours at our house so we can take it out on the weekends in the fall and MAYBE in the winter (little nervous about that!) but don't know if the rain would be too hard on it. Just wondered what you've done with yours since it does look like you take it out during the winter. I really just don't want to put mine away
