The customer brought the rolling chassis to our shop with welding, painting, tires and axle work completed by another. It appears to be the original axle. We installed a 4500 lb Dura Torque axle on the ‘65 22’ Safari we completed last year. It’s likely the same axle we will install in our ‘63 Globe Trotter. They are great axles, with adjustable torque arms. It’s nice to be able to adjust for your ride height.

Thanks for the response. I was wondering if you had replaced the axle on the 61 Bambi. The rubber suspension in my axle has gone bad. Just looking for anyone else's experience. Thanks

I’m not sure what you mean. Are you asking if I’m going to replace the axle on the ‘63 GT I have a thread on, or the ‘61 Bambi belonging to my customer?
In either case, I would recommend you have the axle on your ‘61 inspected by a qualified shop at a minimum. I have had no axle issues on trailers that are used and serviced regularly, but on anything that is 50+ years old, it isn’t a bad idea to do a new axle.
