m.a., to address your question of whether this happens on all Airstreams, since the year my unit was built there have been no substantive changes in the frame painting/coating, isolation of the bellypan to the frame, moisture blocking of the wheel well areas nor any changes to the material selection and construction techniques which would lead me to believe that such corrosion is less likely.

My trailer has been exposed to winter road salt in the Northeast and Midwest, which many trailers will never see, so I believe my case is probably more extreme. Some trailers in less moist climates may never see the problems I have experienced.

    Good luck on your decision.

Hi - I'm new to the forums & was looking around & found your comment on the posts about the corrosion. Then, looking at your photos of the damage on your trailer suddenly I'm not as excited about getting one! Does this happen on ALL Airstreams?! I'm planning on a 19' new one when my house sells - $50m or so for a unit that is going to start to corrode as soon as it leaves the salesroom floor doesn't sound that great all of a sudden. What has happened since '07 when this thread was going. Thanks for any input. m.a.
