As it turns out it looks like I will not be attending after all. Maybe the next one. It's called the "National St. Augustine Easter Rally". Its a Florida unit Rally. Unit 027.

Actually does it have a different name--rally? I'm not seeing it on the calendar as easter rally?? :-)

Hey there. I hit the wall with the dealer over the '47. It's sad but unless he was willing to do the work, I wasn't comfortable -they wanted to register it as "homemade",diff. VIN number etc. I didn't feel right about it. My friend at local DMV said it wasn't legal, etc. It just plain smelled bad. I don't need to have repercussions hitting me later- chnaces slim maybe- but felt that with the type of FULL restoration needed, wasn't something to undertake without a clear title. Legally, the dealer was supposed to do that- not me. The DMV said registering as homemade wasn't legal either. It still a Travel Trailer & can't be registered as such-needs a title-even if they weigh under 2000 lbs. I walked away, got money back, & am trying to find something else. I might have an answer to that prayer soon, but if not, I'll figure it out. I'll look at the rally calendar, see when & it's very likely! You've done beautiful work and I'd love to meet you. Rae

I'm sorry to hear about you title problems. I hope it all works out for you. A 1947 deserves the TLC and care you and your husband give her. I've got a lot done so far on mine but still have a way to go. I'm willing to share my restoration details as you go forth with the work on yours. This is my first Airstream so its been quite a learning experience. I may go to the AS Easter Rally in your area in a few weeks if I'm not working. If you're there look me up. My brother will be attending. He's got a 1954 Airstream Cruiser. Very nice, mostly original.

Hey! Sorry I missed the TCT event. I heard from MsRivet that you were there! Awesome!! Did you get in touch with Fred about the windows? I'm just now getting (hopefully) through some of the hurdles of the title situation with my AS. I think I have a legal document for ownership although it's a slimy deal on the dealer's part in my opinion. Not a title. I am still going to pursue it myself. Right now I have a registration as a homemade trailer and since it's only 1350 pounds at present it fits under the 2000 pound title rule for FL. That won't be the case when she's done. I am visiting my dmv tomorrow and will see whther I need to file legal action against the dealer.

Fred says they did use plexi. He said he has seen one with glass. Fred is 47WeeWind, and would be a good person to talk to about this. I really don't know much, do I? LOL!

I don't have the original glass, but I'm pretty certain it was glass- laminated glass. I saw something about it on here... but now to find it!!! I'll see what I can come up-- however Fred coldwell or caldwell- is the vintage history guru. I'll give him a shout
