I have the same layout and tub as you. I have nothing to offer but am watching the result. Please post pics of what you end up doing.

Our 62' has the same tub. It has a metal sliding track that curves before rear window. I bought a better quality vinal shower curtain, cut a pattern and attached the small plastic curtain tabs to it. I drilled and riveted each one but they are able to be sewn through. It has a snap tab on the divider wall where it is stored out of the way.

This is the only photo I have that shows the ceiling track in it as reflected in the curb side closet mirror. This would be the most important working part of the curtain which could be different on your year.

Funny thing is we never use it. I close the rear window curtain and the bathroom divider partition (now sunbrella fabric) And knell or sit in the large tub. The shower has two hanger positions, high and low, and less water has to be cleaned up after showers.

Dare I ask...

Tires seem to be a touchy subject but I wanted to ask anyway...

What kind of tires do you use?

We had double tire trouble this weekend. We have 15'' rims (no room in the wheel well for 16'') and have had ST tires. Do you use ST tires? We are now looking for LT but we're having a difficult time finding them for 15'' rims with an adequate load rating. Help!

If you are moving to light truck the consensus seems to lean towards Michelin LTX MS2 235/75/15XL tires. No personal experience yet but its what I will be putting on Moonraker.

I believe the load rating is 2183 but don't quote me!

Ouch. One of my nightmares. After searching and searching and reading and reading and talking to Michelin, we ended up with Goodyear Marathon's. I am still not sure about our decision. Michelin just doesn't want us to use their tires. That does mean something. And, because they don't want us to use them, the bigger reputable tire dealers won't put them on trailers. If you really think you did everything right (speed, pressure, tire age, etc) and had those blowouts, I would switch anyway.

Another manufacturer approved option is the Continental Vanco 2. They have similar weight capability as the ST. And, it is a summer tire, meaning the trailer may slip in ice/snow conditions. The trailer will sit about a 1/2" lower. Technically it seems like a good choice option. It doesn't seem like many forum members have used/embraced it. And, I found it is a little harder to find. Which generally isn't an issue, unless you have two failures and are away from home and must have new tires right now!

We put the Michelin's on the Caravel and had no problems with about 5,000 miles of travel. We'll do the same on the Overlander.

I took the price from TireRack.com to our local Town Fair Tire and they matched it -- saved a bunch.

And now for the rest of the story...

Thought you might like to hear about our tire story since I finally wrote it:

All I can say is wow what a total bummer. Glad you all are safe at home now. Sorry to hear about the struggles along the way. Someone told me Airstreaming is an adventure. You sure do prove that with this one. Best of luck to you all. Wish we could catch up with you at Falluminum. Schedule will not permit the travel.

Peace
Jon

Wow.... I am so glad I also have a single axle trailer. Maybe I should carry an extra extra spare in the truck!!

Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds.

It's been a long time.

I can't believe how long it's been since I've posted anything on this thread. It's fitting that the last post was about a trip to Savannah. We took a trip to Savannah this past weekend, too. This time we took our new tow vehicle:

The trip was great! We camped at Fort McAllister State Park. There's an earthworks fort, we'd never seen one before. It's so different from the masonry forts we are used to seeing.

Steve, our door is doing well enough to get us down the road. It still needs a little tweaking though, to be honest. (My grandpa doesn't miss an opportunity to ask me with a grin "How fast do you have to be going to blow the door off?")

Beastie looks capable of a cross-country trip!

By the way, the story of your door falling off was hilarious. That road fix with the plywood door was impressive.

Beastie is capable. We're doing it very soon!

Steve, where are you these days? I haven't kept up with your wanderings. Also, it looks like you're keeping up with your blog about as well as I am keeping up with mine (meaning: not too good.) Maye can catch up with you on this trip.
