1957 Overlander Winner Takes a Long Road West

I have the Aluminitis Blessing! I won another Airstream on an auction and I need to drive out and tow her home.

1957 Overlander -- woo-hoo! Now I'll have an Ohio Airstream (68 Trade Wind) and a California Airstream.

Any recommendations of favorite, safe-feeling campgrounds between Indianapolis, Indiana, and a bit south of Moscow, Idaho? I plan to tent camp on the way out, maybe camp in an aluminum tent on the way back. I plan to pack a whole lot of tools, a set of four tires and wheels, bearing grease, tow lights, tent, aluminum roof patches, sheet metal screws, Vulkem, duct tape ... First stop: trailer repair for check of bearings; Good Sam account; double-check insurance policies (life, auto, health, etc.); camping gear, wine, good books; coffee ...

I'll be traveling these highways, east to west (skipping some connections):
I-74 through Illinois
I-90 Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, Montana
US 12 through Missoula into Idaho

West to east, if I have time, I might return through Salt Lake City.
US 95 Idaho to Utah
I-84/15 SLC
I-80 SLC, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska
I-29 Nebraska, Missouri
I-72 Missouri, Illinois
I-74 Illinois, Indiana

A whole lot of things have to line up right to make this trip in the next few days, or I'll have to wait until August. Nice seller says, "no hurry."

Thanks,
Anne

Yes, a trip in eternity

Werner, thank you for your message. Yes, it's a long trip, over 2,000 miles one-way. My mechanic said I should think of it as one long trip between oil changes.

It is an adventure and a dream to have some time to myself and see the country. Maybe this country is too big for one lifetime.

I enjoyed your blog, please keep posting photos, and have fun!

Anne

A favor ...please.

Would you please buy a Lotto ticket for me?

Pictures of your prizes?

I don't know much about playing the lottery, have never done it. I'm always willing to help a fellow Airstreamer. What's the protocol?
