Steve,

Ashley Salvage in San Antonio will have all the channels and angles you will need for the frame. Reasonably priced and it's all new steel. Cheaper than in Austin, by far.

Thanks for the heads up Bruce.

I just bought a 30A Marinco plug for $57.00 shipped (To Dave of course). Nice find by Mr. Melody Ranch.

Dave & Steve,

I will be up tomorrow morning (Saturday 7/9) to take some pictures if that's OK. Looks like you have some good ones already. Hope I can add to your portfolio

Sam,

Dave told me yesterday that we was beginning work on tear down today. There may not be alot to take pictures of. I tried texting Dave this morning, but did not hear from him. Guess he is busy slaving away.

No, I was busy dealing with truck issues. It's too hot to touch right now, but I'll take the bargmann lights apart later when it is shaded and photograph them for you.

Vulkem

Hey Guys,

I've tried to find Vulkem at Lows, Home Depot, Wal-Mart & the nearby Auto Supply with no luck. Who in Austin sells it?

That's fine. I'm more interested in getting shots after the tear down begins, particularly of the under carriage & frame. Just keep me in mind & let me know when its convenient. I do want ot capture images of the work in progress.

Fastenal can order it for you. It is called Trempro 626 635 or 636 now. CCII has Sikaflex 221 in stock as well.

Sam - Try Camper Clinic II's parts department. They are located in Buda on the east side of I-35 near Cabella's.

Steve,
Nice pictures. I finally got on a real computer to view them. We're headed back to the Republic today. Whenever Dave is in need of help, I'm only 45 min away. I'm looking forward to seeing your big girl in person soon!

Safe travels back Top.

Dave was going to start yesterday but I think the truck is winning the battle against him . Dave said it would be a great help to get a new jack on the front before moving it to his back yard, and I think with a new jack comes a new coupler. Perhaps Lance we can get you and your welder to join us to put a new coupler on her soon. Then again, we would need a plasma cutter or some really great grinders to get that old crummy one off.

Dave, whenever you plan to start lemme know!

Steve

Well, since Sam's off in Buda territory, I am off for breakfast at Monument Cafe in Georgetown.

Yesterday I spent more time cleaning - I bleached a new-found pile of rat-poop and removed the old all electric water heater. The thermometer said it was 136F in the trailer by then so I had a lukewarm shower to cool off.

I wonder if polishing the roof will help it reject more sunlight. Opinions?

Also, my internet has been patchy since yesterday, but seems to be behaving better now (up and down) - hopefully it'll get repaired soon.

Standing something white and at least mostly opaque (no bedsheets, in other words) off the roof by at least a few inches would make WAY more difference than polishing. Preventing the solar radiation from directly heating up that nice conductive aluminum would probably make a 15-20 degree difference... at only 120F you might need a light jacket.

Thick moving blankets or pads thrown on top of the roof would be an easy way to bring the temp down a little without much work, but leave all the roof vents open to allow hot air to escape. A fan blowing out one end would help give airflow throught with all the windows open. I had to work on mine in the middle of our hot summer last year but our "hot summer" is a cool breeze compared to yours. Good luck & drink lots of water!

Have you tried using a box fan? We picked one up to use while doing interior work in Jenny...

A cheap window A/C unit (or similar) is going to more than pay for itself between now and Thanksgiving. A quicker tempo, fewer mistakes, maybe even fewer injuries. It all adds up.

I'd still build a "roof" of some sort to shade. But the A/C is a no-brainer, IMO.

Several have reported that using misters over the top of the trailer roof have dropped interiors by several degrees. Still, shade of ANY kind will trump evaporative cooling.
