Isn't it gratifying to see how much you can get done in a day? Good for you!
Can't wait to see the pictures of the fabric for the curtains and the upholstery!!

I haven't picked everything out yet...so many options! Just the curtain fabric because it will be the perfect blend of "old" and "new" interior schemes...<hint> not much aqua this time

I'll post it when all the pieces are identified ~ I've got plenty of time.

i'll see if i can find a link to all of the harley davidson colors from the '50's.

i'm thinking "hollywood green" it was a custom color only offered in 1955.

oddly enough that is the same year as my bike!

here ya go paint codes it is from another forum i frequent.

might give some insight to the colors that were "in" in the 1950's the dates used are on the right of the page.

after '57 most of the colors were two tones from either ends of the spectrum, atomic blue and birch white for example.

Cool!

John ~

I love the Hollywood green...that's almost identical to the aqua (curtains, melmac, upholstery, accents, etc) I have in Maxwell now.
I'm gonna change things up a little bit this time in Birdy...

you might like the "atomic blue" it looks like the blue on a WD 40 can!

when i was first researching what color to go with i was suprised by how bold the colors were in the '50's. no wonder browns and burnt oranges were popular in the 60/70's!

i'm sure your new baby will be stunning in the end!

If you want to see more "as found" pictures, I have started up Birdy's website...

Airstream 1956 Safari - Lil Bird "Birdy"

or click on the link in my signature below.

Oh yeah, I ordered personalized plates...they say "BIRDY" (LIL BIRD & BIRDIE were both taken)

Thumbs up What a nice website! Kudos!

Shari,
Great work! That is such a user friendly website and visually pleasing!
I like how the different systems are broken down, so that we can follow your work and maybe see some things that will inspire us. I know that as we were working on the dinette in our trailer we found inspiration from your work on Maxwell and that of others on the forum!

Looking forward to watching your progress!

WOW!! Both Birdie and the website are beautiful. So you guys had to go with an older unit? And what a benefit to have Fred running point for you. I'm soo jealous!! The process of restoration with choosing all of the colors, materials and finishes along with upgrades with newer technology hidden behind the cabinets is almost as fun as taking her out on the road. Maxwell and Birdie. The younger man and older woman.

Looking forward to seeing her escape the white paint and flower jail.

Have you been to visit Maxwell lately? You should go tell him you still love him.
This message has been brought to you by the ASPCM (american society to prevent cruelty to Maxwell).
