The trouble with the "F" shaped extrusion is that it is difficult to bend without putting nasty waves in the flanges, which in turn makes it difficult to slip a 1/4" partition into it.
I tried using the old ones in many of my projects, but had to cut a kerf in the back edge of the 1/2" plywood that I prefer. This wasn't very elegant and reduced the strength of the edge, which defeats the purpose of the bulkhead support.
I think it is much better to use "L" extrusions/channels. These can be bent perfectly with a shrinker. You can decide which side of the partition to put the "L" on to hide the "L", or conversely on the other side to hide the ragged edge of your partition (who ever could cut the partitions perfectly to match the shell?).

 WooHoo!
We're packing up to go camping for the first time this spring - leaving Thursday morning for the DenCO Unit Maintenance Rally & Luau, which we happen to be hosting! I finished the bed cushions...we had been using the old mattresses (with new covers) and can't wait to try out the new cushions - 4" hi density foam with 1-1/2" Memory Foam toppers!
I'm just waiting for Mr.InsideOut to finish polishing for the afternoon, then we can put them in, then I'll take and post some pics ~

Here are the finished bed cushions...I decided to upholster them so the area can be used as "living room" sofas instead of just beds if we want. We'll have to wait and see which way we leave it (beds or seating) when camping - at least this way, we have the option.
I'll probably end up making bolsters for the linens...but that's a little project someday - for now it's done!
Oh yeah, the polishing continues...hope to be done in time for International!

It's axle replacement time...Birdy's at the shop today.
We're going with a dropped leaf axle like the original - I don't know the all details, but will post them when I do...so far, this has been a 100% Mr.InsideOut project - I know nothing - just know it's getting done!

Shari, beautiful upholstery job! I love your choices in fabric design. Question, if you'll be so kind to answer: when you added the memory foam to the high density foam, did you use adhesive to join the two? I am about to do something like this, but I'm concerned about the two foams "walking" or separating if I don't use adhesive. If adhesive, which? Thanks. ~G

Thanks for the compliments guys!
Yes, I did use an adhesive between the two... 3M™ Hi-Strength 90 Spray Adhesive. I had it in the garage so that's what I used, it probably was overkill - if I was going to buy something just for the project, I would have probably bought 3M™ Super 77™ Multipurpose Adhesive - it's cheaper.
I see 3M also make one just for Foam called 3M™ FoamFast 74 Spray Adhesive although I've never used it.
They all come in a spray can - be sure to protect anything adjacent when spraying it...
Good luck in whatever you decide to do Georgia!

Super job! Have fun with the POR-15; it works very well. I used it on my tongue and axle brackets. Nice job!!!

Birdy is lovely and this thread is super inspirational! I am in awe.
You should seriously consider writing a "how-to" guide on how to revamp an old Airstream! I would surely buy it as I'm somewhat clueless.

Shari, where do you get that ninja head covering? And does that mean you can't use your polishing technique in France?
I'm using the Tyvek suits from HD and a shower cap from a cheap motel. I like the idea of keeping the black gunk off my neck and face.

It's just a cotton painters hood...I think we got it at the auto Painters Supply store (where we got our Zolatone) on Santa Fe south of Yale by Costco, but I'm sure any paint store would have them.
The problem is the black still gets on exposed bits...and at dusk (like this pic) he can't see through the clear full-mask he usually wears, so he still ends up with black on his eyes. Sometimes it's so bad, even after washing he still has "guy-liner" around his eyes! A true fashion statement to be sure!
