Wow! What a find! 22 feet is a perfect size and she does look well-loved! Congratulations! The sponge painting is too funny but super easy to fix!

Thanks guys ~ we really have enjoyed the couple of times we've had her out so far. It is a prefect size and nice layout...we are pleased, it is pretty rewarding to hear the reactions of fellow 'streamers when they step inside.

Not really...it was a PITA! The painting was done so poorly and with a oil base "glaze" over it, there was no way we would be happy with it just painting over it. Any new paint wouldn't be smooth if it stuck at all. It took many, many hours of time and gallons of stripper to remove it.
If we had to do it over again or anybody were to ask our opinion on whether or not to restore a trailer with sponge-painted interior back to "original" condition...I would seriously have to think about it. Just getting rid of all that paint was a lot of work!

Awesome!
(Makes my restoration plans for my '55 Safari seem totally inadequate by comparison.)
BUT, I absolutely love seeing someone take a restoration to this level! It will be much better than new when you are done. I hope to see your trailer in person some day.

Beautiful!
What a work of art. I'd almost hate to put cushions on that... But that would be a bit hard to sleep on.

First Rate!
And what a beauty! We're looking forward to seeing Birdy in person at the 10th annual Rocky Mountain VAC rally in 2010!
Did you keep track of all the hours you spent on Birdy?
Looking forward to updates on your website (maybe you will have more time now that you're just about finished?)

Well, not really - but we have estimated it very conservatively like this to date:
We have spent 2-1/2 years duration of weekends & evenings.
Weekends - 2 people, 16 hours each per weekend, for half the weekends each year, for 2.5 years PLUS
Evenings - 2 people, 8 hours each week (evenings), 40 weeks each year for 2.5 years
2x16=32x26=832x2.5=2080 (weekends)
2x8=16x40=640x2.5=1600 (evenings)
2080 + 1600 = 3680 hours
My guess is that is low...we have spent just about every day doing something...and weekends we would often work 12-16 hours on Saturdays. By the time we are 100% complete with the exterior too, I would say we will be right around 4,000 hours.

Absolutely gorgeous. The craftsmanship throughout the project has been spectacular. The time spent is believable and probably doesn't include the time spent on the internet and running around to stores trying to source parts and supplies. Thank-you. It's an inspiration for the final phase of my own project.

Thanks Ed, but...uh, that would be a "no"! Not unless I get to keep it after we're through!
Besides, we still have the polishing to do on this one ~ probably won't hit that seriously until spring though.

No Ade, I don't know how many are left...I have been keeping a log of Safri's I've come across, but it's nowhere near complete.

I just got caught up here. Impressive and GORGEOUS! The woodwork is stunning and the details. Even the stuff UNDER the mattress is pretty.
One of my "trailer tests" is how well can I sleep in it. Birdy looks so cozy comfy, I'll bet I could sleep in one of those beds for days! Just turn on the raindrops and ZZZZzzzzz.
