We've owned our '54 Safari since May 2011, but I thought I'd be sociable and add no. 6077 to the list. No "Safari" nameplate on our unit, but in every way it matches other front kitchen Safaris.
Another interesting detail is the rare, C.M. Hoof clearance lights - lovely and large, at 6.4" long. (Both VTS and forums member lwebb have both begun reproducing them, FYI.)
Really interesting to see all the different details from one to the next. Not sure they were "only improvements" as Wally instructed... but such details certainly hold the interest of us armchair historians.

There seem to be a LOT of oddities in the Safari line - as though they were made from leftover parts as some suggest - rarely are two alike! Thanks for adding yours to the list!

Frank, We have been traveling so much that this is the first chance I got to reply to anything on here. Our 56 was built in Las Angles. We are finally going to get some work done on ours. IT is hard to leave the road and put the trailer in the shop for some maintenance and upgrades. New floor, realign the door and get with a fabricator to explor adding tanks. Going to be touch to be grounded while our trailer is getting improved. Guess I will just have to go fishing near home for a while. :-)

Another '56
Thought I would add ours to the list. We have owned it for two months and it's already disassembled for a frame off in the spring.
Ours is #6305

looks great! I just need to find a front kitchen model for a parts donor I think. Clear that 56 and 57 front kitchens.

Thanks
Thanks Shari. I need to say the blog of your restoration has been an inspiration to us and even tipped the scales to buy this model. Writing a blog takes a lot of time and commitment, but know it it appreciated.

Thanks Mark! I hope you get as much enjoyment from yours as we have ours! Good luck with your restoration - feel free to contact me if you run into anything we can help you through along the way~
The blog also help document things along the path to restoration. There is usually a lot of time between demo day and the time things go back together - pictures are worth a thousand words! Best advice I can give is take lots & lots of pictures, you won't be sorry!

Great to see some action on the '56 Safari forum.
After finishing the new subfloors, we are FINALLY diving into the wiring and insulation, preparing for our "retire in 5 years" plan.
We're also toying with the idea of switching things around just a teeny bit...nothing major, but we want a bigger fridge. Soooo... that'll live in the closet area and the old fridge area will house a new stack of drawers, so we really won't lose a lot of storage.
Also we aren't really dinette people, so we might try a couch (goucho, maybe) in that area. Everything is up in the air at the moment, but I'll post plan pictures as I put them together.
ALSO, I don't know how many of you are on FaceBook, but we have a "13-Panel Airstream Safari Group" with some great people. Probably about 9-10 Safari owners out there. Lots of pictures and people to bounce ideas off of.
Good luck everyone!
-Steve
