My 58, early in the series (vin 8417), is a California-built 7 end panel. The timeline in the back of Banham's "Wanderlust" says that 57 was the "start" of the 7 panels. I'm not certain if California and Ohio were on the same changeover timeline.

Thanks for your response, I had heard that 57 was the change over year and that a few 57's were built with 13 panels, from your response sounds like if I want to go for a 13 panel model I may need to look for 56 or earlier

jim,
that is my understanding as well. 57 was the crossover year. my 56 has the 13 panels and the california whale tail. it's cool knowing i have a cool trailer even if it still sits in pieces in my backyard

Thanks for creating this list.

Thanks everyone, it didn't take long but we got very lucky with a Craigs listing. The unfortunate part is that it is located at 8200 feet in the Colorado Rockies buried in the snow. We have snow removal equipment scheduled for Friday so we will see how it goes. Lynda is going to post our progress. The rig is rough, it was used as an artist studio therefore most of the interior has been removed.

I'm sure you will find no absence of support or suggestions from the group here Jim. This is exciting - another Flying Cloud adoption.

Glad you got the trailer home incident free. I enjoyed the story of getting it out of it's former home and back to CA.
Look forward to watching the build out.

SilverPal2, thanks for the pictures and story. We'll be following the restoration with interest. What is the interior like? Will you be putting on interior pictures?
I think I had mentioned that our 55 is totally gutted at present. It will be great to have you as an insperation.

Don,
Do you have an idea of the floor plan you want to build out? Are you thinking queen or twins, dinette or gaucho, rear or side bath?
The reason I ask that is wagndrgnfc's '52 is at the moment completely stock. He's intending to redo much of it even though it is in pretty fair shape as is, it just doesn't meet their needs as is. They'll keep the basic configuration but want to add a bathroom and the whole 12v wiring/lighting/etc, as well as modern appliances. However, from a measurements perspective, I'm sure Lee would be happy to provide you with the measurements of the various components. I know you are intending to use the original style refer and stove which his now has but is removing. Pictures as well might be helpful. His has the really nice cabinets unlike mine, which was manufactured exactly 30 units later, which are pretty bare bones by comparison.
Just a thought as you get rolling on yours.....

54 snow rescue
Unfortunately the interior was gutted and used as an artist studio for over 30 years, I removed the remaining evidence of art and am currently removing the lower interior skin, the air conditioner, extra window and many unusual items that must have had a meaning to an artist or?, thanks for your ongoing support and encouragement.
