I had a look at the progress pictures and you've done an outstanding job so far. If you keep this pace up you'll be out camping with Earl pretty quickly.
Is that a sixties Ford you are also working on? They make great tow vehicles.
Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing the pictures.

I notice a 1951 Flying Cloud for sale on the TCT website and the S/N appears to be 7099.

Greg,
I am amazed at how many of these trailers have survived and we know there are many more out there. I'm aware of ones that we viewed, or spied, during our search that I didn't think to note S/N's that would bump this number by probably half a dozen or more.
Thanks for doing the registry. It's fun to watch.
How's your trailer? I can't remember if it's done or you were redoing it.
My buddies will be undertaking their restorations this spring, one on a '51 registered as a '52, and a '53, that, other than the 53's windows, appear to be identical units in almost identical condition. It will be fun to watch and while they are doing their bathrooms I may tag along and add a shower set up to mine.

How is your restoration coming? At last viewing you had a ton of work accomplished in quite a short period of time.
Have you and Earl gotten any further than the floor being replaced?

Add My Flying Cloud
I haven't picked it up yet, but I will soon be in possession of 222F108. Am I correct in assuming that this trailer is a 1962? It has the jalousie windows to the right of the entrance door and no other windows on the curb side. I am also assuming that this is a "two sleeper" since it has a sofa in the front and no other berth area. The drop leaf kitchen table is missing. The trailer had been located in a campground for many years and not on the road. It was used as an overnight rental unit by the camp, back in the early 80's. I found it on New Year's Day in a storage lot. With a tree growing between the bumper and the rear body, it had really put down roots.

It sounds like a neat find. Hopefully you'll be able to take a swack of pictures during retrieval.
I enjoy these love stories. They are always so much fun.

Hi Barry:
I hate to disappoint you, but Aprimosch listed "Whirl with Earle" for sale in this Forum's classified ads on December 30, 2007:
http://www.airforums.com/classifieds...uct=4839&cat=6.
I don't know the circumstances behind the recent classified ad, but it looks like another vintage Airstream was dismantled then put up for sale less major parts. The removed interior parts are not listed as available in the for sale ad, so I wonder what happened to them? I hope it all turns out for the better and Earle gets put back together again.

Thanks Fred for pointing that out.
I see that now. It's unfortunate that the lady tackling it is not able to finish it. She had quite an impressive head of steam on for a while there. I am always saddened when some one takes on a project with big dreams and then life gets in the way. I always hope that they will stay involved by acquiring one that's either less work, or already done.
Yep, let's hope it passes on to someone who can finish it up and get it back into the CG's where it needs to be, and that they have the same sense of it's history as the person now selling it has.
Barry

Looks the same as my 1959 Flying Clould. I have the same Curbside window layout.
if you use the following link you can see the layout, and it shows a flyer for the Flying Cloud, but the Fly is a different set up, I think my Flying Cloud was custum, up until seeing the one picture of this other 59 FC, they all looked different then my set up. Curous does yours have the whale tale too.

It looks like we won't be making it to Bozeman. We are hugely disappointed as there are so many people on this Forums who are intending to be there that we were hoping to meet for the first time.
Dang. We've not been to an Airstream rally either and were really looking forward to going. Bozeman is a day south of our old home town so we thought we'd kill two stones with one bird, but life has gone and gotten in the way.

Bevman,
You will find several Flying Clouds from the El Camino Real Unit in the VAC section at Bozeman.

Bill,
Heavy disappointment on our part. I've got a treatment in June and I have a lot of difficulty with travel for up to a month afterwords. I need to be within easy striking distance of a medical facility if it's needed. It is disappointing in that we miss an opportunity to meet the folks like yourself who are able to make the trek.
Donna's busy trying to come up with an alternate camping plan where we can get away for a week that's in the Province for health care coverage yet still "away" enough that it feels like a holiday. I'll be watching for pictures from those who attend.
My goal is by next year I'll be out and about and able to get to a number of events along the West Coast and some of the 4CU events as well.
Take care,
Barry

Gosh David, it would seem to me like there would be 2 guilty parties here. Good for you guys. Who knows, this could be a July 4th baby to share birth dates with Wally. Maybe don't share this with your wife, though, or she'll figure you planned this all along and are carrying this whole Airstream thing a bit too far. And particularly when you are choosing names - she'll be watching for anything with an A, W or B in it that could in any way be related to Airstream, Wally or Byam....
However, remember, early on the morning of the 4th, to get her out with the cloth while you are saying wax on, wax off, dear, and you aren't holding that Cyclo quite right...........
We will be watching our email with keen interest the first week of July.
Congratulations,
Barry
