Congrats on your FC purchase. Do you have any photos you can post of the interior/exterior?

Working on that, trying to get some good images to share and figure out how to post them on here. I am excited with some planned changes. One of the first ones will be replace the flooring with bamboo, at least thats the plan for the moment. I will be back with photos as I can.

Cool! I can't wait to see them.

Adding photos is relatively easy. When you are in the screen to add a new post, scroll down past the text box, past the "Submit Reply" button and you will find a butt which says "Manage Attachments". You will then see a box with 10 placeholders and browse buttons. You can upload up to 10 photos per post. The hardest part is making sure the size of your photos are less than or equal to the maximum size allowed. I've included below the size limits for each filetype followed by the max width x height pixel numbers.

jpe1.00 MB 1600x1600
jpeg1.00 MB 1600x1600

Good luck!

apolaroid,
I found that trailer listed on the Vintageairstream.com picture site.
1959FlyingCloud2

It is certainly a fine looking trailer. I hope you are happy with it.

yup thats our baby. I had seen that link, but had no idea it was ours because of the interior had been changed. The last owner put sky blue cowboy curtains in, and the seating is now done with denium blue. All that will be changed soon along with Bamboo flooring soon. After looking at the name plate I see it was our little Fly Cloud. Even down to the back Bumper which is really the only one I have seen like it.

Very nice interior layout. It looks like it is in good condition.

Great work Greg.

It's neat to see how many are out there yet. Given the small quantities that were originally built and then the number that have survived it continues to impress me on how well these trailers were built for their day. People are always amazed to learn the age of ours - even fellow Airstreamers. Wally did good!

It is interesting that you have a light yellow colored oven and stovetop but the exhaust hood is two-tone brown. I believe either the oven/stovetop or the hood is not original to this trailer because all of these combinations I have seen, the oven/stovetop have matched the hood color. I sure like the pastel yellow oven/stovetop much better than the brown I have in my TradeWind. Nice trailer you have there.

The other potential is that the range hood was added later. I am not sure the stove/oven is original either so it could be whatever the PO could get their hands on. It wouldn't take much for Apolaroid to repaint the range hood to match the stove/oven and I agree, the yellow (is that harvest gold???) does compliment the rest of the interior nicely.

I would hope he wouldn't paint that yellow to the two-tone brown. Heck, that's what I have and would gladly trade for the yellow.

hi everyone,
i am new to the forum and AS. i have been looking at AS for about 9-10 months and have decided to persue this dream of mine of owning one. i have been going back and forth between new vs. vintage. the vintage that i have fallen in love with is the 1975 Flying Cloud II with the rear bed and sort of round both dinette area. i'm not sure what it is called. but i saw this trailer in Bruce Littlefields' book "Airstream Living". if there is anyone out there with this model and floorplan i would like to hear from you to ask some more guestions about it. or if anyone knows where i can find out more about this perticular model. thanks.

I'm thinking that what you have for a trailer is actually a Safari model because Airstream stopped manufacturing Flying Cloud models back in the early 60's. Can you post photos or the serial number which will help us identify the model of your trailer. Either way, congrats on your find!

Greg... another interesting anomaly... Theresa Gray's '53 FC has a serial number of just "3009", not O3009 as one would assume. Here's a shot of her serial plate. It would appear that either someone forgot to stamp the "O" for the Ohio production on the plate, or they just hadn't started that convention yet.

i don't own a Flying Cloud. i just saw one in the book "Airstream Living" it reads 1975 Flying Cloud II. it was shipped to England for private sale in the early 90'. anyway, i love the floorplan and the look of the body. well, i'm still looking for it reagardless what model it is...i just love it. you said maybe it could have been a Safari. i look up some old floor plans from that year i guess and see what i can find.

thanks,
Sandra

1961 or 1962 Flying Cloud

Hi!

I have been given a 1961 or 62 Flying Cloud. The numbers on the tag are:
0604, 22TSS, 4 61. I think 61? I've got a lot of work to do! I'll put some pictures up soon.
