Greg, how is the registry coming along? I have always wondered how many of each year they actually made. At the TCT Deming campout this summer a fellow told us there were fewer than a few hundred made in total but I suspect that number is low without actually having any real data to go on.
Really do appreciate your taking this on. It will be neat to see the results.

There's a '58 FC on eBay right now in Utah. Seller informs me it is Ser.#228532 (an Ohio built).

Creampuff... Thanks for the info. I have it added.
Barry ... I have been looking at the member proflies the past two days and have found 76 people who listed a Flying Cloud as their trailer#1. Of these I only know 13 serial numbers. I have been sending PMs to some, but unfortunately most have not sent a reply or even been on the forums for a long long time. I guess the 100 number was a pretty low estimate.
The latest person to join has one, but selected that he did not want to receive e-mail contact.

Thanks Greg. And we all know there are more out there that are not part of the Forum. I saw a picture of a piece of property in NW WA last summer I was interested in and on it was a '51 FC that looked in gorgeous shape. When I asked about it I was told that they had already sold it. Darn. It continues to amaze us that so many 50 year old Airstreams are in such great shape. It just proves the value proposition of owning one and keeping it properly maintained. I still can't imagine anyone ever paying the price for one and then letting it sit in a field to deteriorate. I guess priorities change but still it's always surprised me that people could do that to anything be it a beautiful car or trailer or whatever.

1955 Fc
I have a "new" 1955 FC. Serial #O3255 in original condition. (I see all others of this year listed are the whale tails...yes, I am a bit jealous!)

Stop bragging and show us some pix.
Congrats Becky. Is this the very one you were talking of previously?

I may be replicating someone else's request but have you loaded pics on the forum anywhere? Would love to have a look at your Flying Cloud.

It looks like a great trailer. You did well to get one of that age that shows so well. Hopefully any work required is minimal. Our '51 took four months of hard weekend and evenng effort to get it to a point where we could feel comfortable with it. Since then we've used it a lot and really enjoy it.

Thanks Barry,
Although I have been doing cars for a long time, I got very nervous about this purchase esp since it was sight unseen due to the fact it was my first trailer. All of you have made me feel much more comfortable that I hopefully picked the right one to start w/ that hopefully will not be a money pit. I guess it's just buyer remorse you know. I have looked at ads every day now since I bought this one trying to figure out if I did ok........you know how that goes. Now I just need to figure out how to get it back to Texas from Calif w/o having to drive both ways. One way rentals are outta site though. Am looking for someone who need a vehicle driven to Texas from Calif that doesn't mind pulling a 22' trailer.

El Jefe ~
Contact John at Wayward Travels. He is a transporter of trailers throughout the southwest and might be able to help you out. He is also a vintage Airstream owner himself so he knows the ropes, so to speak. He can be contacted at john@waywardtravels.net. Tell him you heard of him here.

one man's money pit is another man's treasure
i've heard of people on this forum who have rented a uhaul with a hitch for one way travel. you just rent the truck empty and hook up. uhaul doesn't advertise this towing option on the website, i think you have to call the local area. i wouldn't recommend it, but it is an option.
one note of caution if you have someone else physically tow it is the tires, wheels, bearings, and possibly the axle are all suspect and need to be checked out and possibly serviced before being towed all that distance home.
