Now the work begins:
Dropping belly pan to add tanks
Minor floor repair
Upgrading electrical system
Replacing all copper plumbing with pex
New bath fixtures
New window coverings
Aluminum LP tanks
Adding vinage awning
Etc...
Looking good! More pictures of the original is always great for those of us always hunting for ideas and living vicariously through your restoration, even if we have are own to live through directly.
Looks like the floor plan with the double bed running longitudinally in the CS rear and a lav and shower in the SS rear. Cool!
Oh, just saw your bed question, must be a very early '55 with the cross ways bed.
To address the bed issue, I have only seen in it on custom models. Depending on the width of the interior, you will likely need a custom mattress that will be longer than the standard RV models, in addition to the custom feature to incorporate the curvature of the rear corners. It also depends upon how much space you have back there, as you may want to go wider as well.
Based on the AZ title I am now think it may be a 54 in spite of the VIN. Seems it was first titled in March 1954. I decided to go ahead and maximize the length of the bed. Mattress was already a custom item and I am having a new one made so now is the time to make any changes.
Good idea from my perspective. If you need to go custom anyway, get exactly what you want. These are too much work and expense not to get what you want all the way through.
