Thanks guys....yes, I'm definitely nervous about setting the shell back down. Equally nervous about installing the bellypan so it doesn't look like amateur hour . I think I have a good plan for lowering it back down using 4 floor jacks on the inside. I don't have access to lower it from the roof vents. I'll definitely take my time JT....I'd hate to screw things up at this point - thanks for the words of wisdom!

Hey Toastie, I'm honored that you've looked at my post! It's great to get advice from expert like you guys! I've poured over your posts in the past and am blown away by your capabilities! My trailer had what I think was an originally installed "hold down" plate in the front. It extends down and it is shear fastened to a frame crossmember directly below the front wall. I plan on re-using or at least remaking this. Is this what you're talking about? I don't remember seeing one in the rear. With the storage door in the back, there's not really a directly load path other than around the ends of the door.

I've been thinking about the belly pan....I've been considering using decently thick plastic sheets. Maybe not in the front or rear where it needs to be kerfed and formed, but possibly the 3 middle sheets. Has anyone used plastic for their belly pans?

I appreciate all the help!

Okay....here's what I've been up to. Goshawks has been hounding me for pictures . Anyway, got the Marmoleum laid down. We went with the Dark Bistre color and it turned out great. Love the color and the pattern! It looks like it could've came with the trailer in 1952! We bought 19'2" off the 6'7" wide role (used a little excess to cover the width shortage) for ~$500... then tax and a bucket of the marmoleum adhesive came out to $550. Laid it myself (and some help from my old man) and it went down real easy since it was a bare deck. Just trimmed off the overhang after the adhesive dried! I then finished the permanent installation of the aluminum channel around the edge. Used 1/4" bolts at each frame location and #12 by 1" wood screws every 4 inches between. The weather has been pretty crappy, so I've been working on the "rotisserie mechanism" for installing the belly-pan. I think I'm ready to flip it over when the weather straightens out. I also picked up the belly pan material....5052-H32 x 0.032" (after tax, all the belly pan material came out to ~$330). I've riveted together the pieces that were larger than 4x8, so I'm ready when I get it flipped over. I've also been working on the appliances. The PanelRay heater is ready to go! Lee how about a pic/description of your "rotisserie mechanism". I've been thinking about chain falls across the barn beams but am still open to other devices that would flip the frame.

Hey JT....good to hear from you!! I haven't seen pictures of your project in a while. So you got the floor down and the shell back on after the Albuquerque trip eh?? Progress has been a bit slow on mine. Partially the weather, and partially me being nervous about the belly pan :-)

I'll post some picture of the rotisserie set-up once I verify that it works ...how embarrassing would that be to show some slick system only to have it fall apart and screw up my trailer!! I've also been getting ready to dig into the gas stove. I think I can get it all cleaned up and functional without too much effort. Maybe some new insulation and paint inside, but it's pretty clean overall and hopefully the plumbing works!! Here's a couple pictures of it...

Hey Lee,

Great stove! Mine came with a Majic Chef smaller one that you have probably seen in other trailers. I won't use it as I plan on modernizing the interior of my trailer. For now, I'm just doing odd jobs like rebuilding the storage access doors, windows, entry door, etc. while waiting for Uwe to have enough time for the belly pans. I really wanted to pull the Breadloaf to Oregon this July but looks like it will have to be next year. Oh, I did buy some new wheels and hubcaps from VTS. I hope to get new tires as well.

Looks good JT!

Hopefully Uwe can get to your belly pan soon!! I like your wheels...I found a pair for a 50's chevy truck on craigslist an had them powder coated. They look great, but I still need to find some hub caps like yours.

So, yesterday I got the frame flipped over so I can screw down the insulation boards and put on the belly pan! Wow are these things heavy....it was a nail-biter all the way! I hope re-flipping it goes just as well .

Here's some pictures of how I did it. The fitting bolted to the back bumper should look familiar...I borrowed the piece from my old engine stand. In the front I welded a piece of angle that fit nicely between the frame rails to a pipe and drilled a hole to bolt on a ball (also used an extra piece of all-thread through the tongue jack hole to make sure the ball would slip out of the hitch when inverted). Look out belly pan here I come!!!

Great idea Lee, I love the engine stand on the back, and will incorporate it in my lift. Thanks!!. Am I correct to think the bar in the tube in the front, has a nut welded to it and that the ball shaft goes into the hole in the tube and screws into the nut? I like that idea and our garage has two beams that I can run the two chain falls from... I did hear from the axle co. and the axle is ready, so will be picking it up Mon.
BTW looks great nice Mc Guyver move!!

Barry...you're good...real good. Everything you described above is exactly right.... Yes, nut welded to the bar that goes in the end of the pipe. This would've been much easier with a chain hoist at each end as you mentioned you have. I had to build a wooden pivot support at the front which you won't have to! Got all the insulation installed and the two middle belly pans trimmed around the axle. Glad to hear your axle is ready!!! Keep up the great work!

LOL...thanks JT - you're giving me way more credit than I deserve...that's for sure! Been making a little progress. Got all the insulation installed and some good belly pan progress in between rain showers. I'd post pictures, but I guess my allowable drive space is full. I wonder if there's any way to compress all the pictures I've posted. Can't just delete them since all the pictures of my progress would be gone.....hmmm.

Thanks JT! Yes, I can't imagine doing the insulation and the belly pan lying on my back!!

Anyway, got the pan cut trimmed and installed!! And flipped it back over. I think it came out great....maybe not perfect, but would do it the same way again if I had to. Here's a couple pictures...
