Width by years and size?

Somewhere there needs to be sticky with dimensional info. Dimensional questions come up all the time and often remain unanswered.

Best I can figure at this point:

Pre '69 7'-6" was standard on all legnths

'69 forward

less than 25', width was and is 7'-6"
25' and more, width was and is 8'-0"

At some point wide bodies came in that increased width to legal max 8'-6"
which ones and when?

Please confirm or correct and lets get a definitve post. Then we can work on the lenths.

Well I already know that first thought is not right. I have seen a '65 manual for a 17' at 7' wide and a '66 manual for a 26' that shows 8' wide. So the search continues

Caravels were generally 6" narrower than comparable Airstreams of the same year. All Argosy Minuets were 6" narrower than standard Airstream and Argosy products of the same years.
The wider bodies didn't start until fairly recently, and it didn't make a difference how short a trailer was, it was the same width up till that point. The wide bodies are 25' and longer in the newer trailers only.

I think it was mid-90's.
Also, 8' was the maximum allowed width for trucks and trailers, except buses, which were allowed 8'6". I don't know when the law changed, but it was after 1985.
