We just purchased a 1958 Overlander and being new vintage airstream owner need advice on renovation. Where to start!?! . The axles and brakes have checked out and in the process of getting new wheels and tires. Where do we go next. Any advice. Please check out my pictures located in the photo section.
Looks like a good project, from what I can tell from your photos.
I believe you start first with the running gear, as you seem to be doing, then determine the condition of the frame and floor, as everything is built around that. From there get the shell weather tight.
After that, it depends entirely upon your goals. We would need to have a better idea of your hopes, aspirations, budget, and abilities.
While looking at the frame and floor you should look for signs of water leaking. Leaks must be found and repaired. You need to look at all of your appliances as well as your plumbing. Just take it one step at a time and make yourself a check-off list. I have a 94 and I am still in that phase.
