Vent removal Question

I was able to get some Demo time in on our 1975 Argosy 26' today, and I'm trying to figure out how to remove the Vents. I can remove the screw that is in the handle to open/close the vents, but the handle still doesn't come off. I suspect there is a 'trick' to this, or maybe it's just stuck ? Any suggestions?

That handle has an internal spline that fits tight to the splined shaft just pull straight down holding around the screw boss not on the crank it will move .

It is just stuck, as mentioned pull straight down from where you took the screw out, with pliers. Try not to wiggle too much you don't want to break either the plastic handle or even worse the spline that the handle is attached to. You can find replacement handles that are aluminum if you do end up breaking it! Personally, I would switch them out regardless.

I'd also try some WD-40 or some kind of penetrating oil and giving it some soak time before attempting to pull.
