That darn bathroom door!

2013 Flying Cloud rear queen model 28ft.

The bathroom door gets in the way, we’d like to remove and replace it with something else, but doesn’t look like much else will work?

Any ideas? It’s just my wife and I 99.99 percent of the time, but still need something on there for company (we never get)

You can flip it over so that it opens the other way.

We had lots of problems with the shower door in our 2014 Eddie Bauer. We finally just took it out and use a shower curtain. We love it! In any future Airstream we might buy, the first thing we will do is remove the shower door. It's so much easier to maneuver around the bath/shower area without that darn flimsy door in the way.

Similar issue

We have similar isssue with our 2015 30' flying cloud. The shower is in the hallway on the left and the bathroom with sink and toliet is on the right as you move to the back of the trailer. The bathroom door opens into the hallway and catches on the door to the shower. Kinda poor design.

we removed the bathroom door on our 2015 International 25 FB and didn't replace it with anything. works for us. I wish we'd done it sooner.

One of the first things I did when I got my 2006 23 Safari home was remove the BR door. Privacy to me is not an issue. For guest they can close the accordion door to the bed area.

Bathroom door

We have a 2015, Classic. We hook the door knob to a "bungy" and hook the other end to the interior of the small cab above the spice rack. Holds the door open while we're in the coach and stops the annoyance. I suppose dispensing of the door completely makes it a cleaner change, but creates an issue when people stop over for a drink or something. I think I'm going to put a quality cup hook on the back of the door for the bungy, as the door knob doesn't like the tension on it and gets loose after a bit. I also like the idea of taking the shower door off and using a shower curtain.

I use a magnetic cabinet catch on the bottom door edge to hold mine open, 27 EB.

Rear Bath Door

I replaced my rear bath door with a curtain - works great. Just got tired of messing with the door

What I find interesting is our trailer was obviously designed for a nice camping experience. All the things that are easily dealt with in that vein, then there’s the full-time crowd that are making that same “camper” a home and all the renovation that is needed to do so. My wife and I could put up with a lot of things if our airstream was parked in the garage most of the time. Most of that available sleeping space ends up in a pile in the back of a pick up truck on its way to who knows where then the process of really moving in begins.

Cabinet makers, Curtain makers, and parts, parts......parts. The things we will do simply because we love living in a little round shell. :-)

The darn Bath door

My bathroom door handle has left me with bruises! so large and painful. It is at a perfect height for being brutal to my arms. IAm looking for creative ideas for leaving the door on but a handle or pull that does not stick out. Any ideas?

I agree with you Barnbridge. Apparently neither of us is psychic.

Since all Airstreams are not identical, how about some pictures so we can get an idea what you are talking about?

Would help here too:

Depending on what your door is like, I may have an idea.

Ok, that explains a lot. I can see how that could get in the way.

Not much room to do much differently, either. No room for a slider, sort of like a (thin) barn door mounted in the hall on the bathroom hall parallel to traffic? That's how the door is done in my Excella.

I'm going to join those who recommended a curtain. It would take less room closed than one of the folding accordion doors. It would also move when you brush against it going through the hall, presenting less of an obstacle.

You would have to relocate your Guinea Pig Xing sign, though.

The curtain rod would also give you a little extra space for hanging the occasional wet item to dry.

We just got one of these Stoett Nautilus retractable shower doors to replace our glass shower door. Looks like it could work well for your situation as a privacy door and it is completely out of the way when retracted. Here is the link.

We did not like the directiin our bath door opened so i took it off and turned it upside down and mounted the hinge on the other side
Then i replaced the striker and chiseled clearance for the latch.

Took about an hour.
