Removing small shelf and rivets

Hello fellows Airstreamers..I am wanting to remove a small 4" shelve below a middle window in my '72 International. I think I can use a phillips head screwdriver, but I think one is a rivet.
After removing, do I need to fill the holes with the rivets, then paint?

Rivets would look best, and you would want to paint them before installing them. That way, you won't have paint everywhere but where you want it. To paint them, find a piece of cardboard, and stick several plain rivets into the cardboard, stem facing up. Use some white spray paint, and spray the part of the rivets. Let the pain dry thoroughly, then install them using a rivet gun.
