I am very much wanting to be in contact with anyone that has an Overlander CAD drawing. Build year of trailer is not important. However, if the drawing was of a '58 I would be even more happy.

My wife works in CAD all the time as an interior designer. If you sent me pictures and all measurements to pass along, I'm sure she could create one specifically for you for a fee. Just a suggestion, if you don't find what you're looking for.

Thanks for the offer, but I've been doing CAD/CAM for over 20 years. I was simply looking to save some time by using the base drawing that someone might have already created.

I can read symbol files and DWGs. I have ACAD versions 9, 11, 12, 13, windows, CadKey 3, Cadvance 1A through 6, and a couple engineering analysis programs that can use DWGs. I think I have a copy of VersaCad around here somewhere too. I was a CAD reseller between 20 years and 8 years ago. I left the business about 10 months after the 486i chip came out. I lost a ton of money on faulty first version 486s and lost my taste for the business.

Anyway, for this project I'll be using Cadvance 5, which has a ACAD symbol and DWG translator which will work for files up through the first windows version. The accuracy of the drawing is not critical and I find Cadvance easier for me to manipulate 3D objects in than ACAD. And since I don't have a copy of Solidware, I have to make do with what I have.

My intended use of the file is to do "paper" design of the remodel of my trailer. And, then do some 3D rendering to do a walk through so that my mental visualizationly impaired wife can attempt to understand what the finished trailer will be like.

Sounds like we can do business. My files are ACAD 2000. They are for a '59 Ohio Tradewind, which is just a short Overlander.

The files were mostly for recording dimensions and piping/electrical layout. The frame is detailed to exact dimensions, and all the frame and sheetmetal is laid out to 1/8" or better precision.

I also have a detail of the leaf spring axle, showing wheel travel under various loads.

I have not rendered these, although some of the files were drawn in 3D.

If you are interested, all I need is your guarantee that the files will not be used commercially.

If necessary I have a conversion program that will save the AutoCad2000 File down to version 14 and then I have version 14 which I then can save down to 13 . . . in case it doesn't work for you . . . and I have a early 50's Flying Cloud in AutoCad 14 if anyone wants it.

Thanks, I may need to have you retrofit Mark's files to release 13 or 14. I'll let you know if I need your help.

I need to go dig up my CadVance discs and get a fresh version loaded with all of the converters.

I first was doing CAD when the latest and greatest machine was a 286-12 with a co-processor. A 3D 256 color render slide could take up to 16 hours to calculate. (The same render image on a 486i-25 was a little over 17 minutes.) I used to have to work from 5 or 6 different machines all on a LAN so that when I "locked" one machine up in "thought" I could still get something else done for the rest of the day. The neatest machine I ever owned was an Amstrad lunchbox demonstrator. This being THE brand newest bleeding edge machine back in the spring of '85, if I remember correctly. It had a 7" orange monochrome LCD, a 20 MEG harddrive, was an 8088 with a co-processor, had TWO HD 1.44 floppies, and best of all had a 2400 BAUD modem. A smokin' deal on this machine was $4600. I think I sold a crate of 20 of em to a bunch of foremen and crane operators. An option was to give up the second floppy for a second 20M hd, for the measly sum of $1700.
