New Cabinets and Recliners

In our 2016 FC 28 we found the gaucho uncomfortable and the dinette too large and the storage there a pain to get into. As soon as we returned to our winter home in Arizona, we took the AS to RV Renovators in Mesa. They removed both built in seating areas, leaving space for 2 recliners and cabinets with a pullout table.

Nice quality. What will you use for chairs, the recliner?

Are the recliners secured during travel?

That looks fantastic and very comfortable. Have to keep that in mind as we/they are local.

We will get light-weight folding chairs to sit in at the table.
We haven't traveled yet, except from the RV Renovators shop to our spot in Gold Canyon. We don't expect to have to secure the recliners. We have had them in previous RVs and didn't need that precaution. In the AS the recliners are in the front and there is not usually much movement there.

Very nice cabinet work. How did this change the weight of the trailer?

This looks really nice and we want to make a similar change to our FC 25. We are going to be in Mesa next week and will reach out to RV Renovators. Our problem is that we are fully timing and can't give up our sleeping space for the time required for the work. Need to figure something out...

Well done, Dave

These are the counter seats we picked up. About $50 each at TJMax. They have a few different styles, adjustable height and swivel.

Recliners and weight

We haven't weighed the truck and RV since we bought them in June. We will have that done next week at North Ranch Escapees Park in Congress, AZ, next week. We won't know for sure, but feel we might be lighter now. The old goucho and dinette seem like they might weigh more than the new chairs and cabinets.
What we will know for sure is if we are under or overweight now.

Just removed the gaucho and updated to a "loveseat" recliner. Turned out to be a very easy job, given that the recliner was made to fit. We were leaving for a few weeks south so we couldn't wait, but for those who have been thinking about it, this is the time to act. Lambright Furniture, In Shipshewana IN is having their ONLY sale. In December everything is 10% off. They are designed to fit and install in four parts to fit through the door, and the best thing is they are very comfortable. (we are not affiliated with them)

We used the same recliners as the o.p. I believe, Villa Lift Recliner (?) and like them very much. They were also used by Airstream in their recliner model of recent years.

Dave, we have the same model FC25RB as you and it works very well for a recliner conversion. Your's may have the electrical converter mounted a little more forward, otherwise it is essentially open space when the bench seats and dinette come out from the fridge forward.

Pretty much a blank sheet of paper in there, but you have to be careful of weight and balance. It cannot be heavier than what you have now or the hitch weight will exceed Airstream's spec of 1,000 lbs maximum.

Jackson Center Service put in the standard Airstream recliner model cabinets, and built a custom cabinet over our converter. Took two days and they pulled the Airstream out end of each work day for us to use in their little rv park (full hookups).

We use the side table primarily for Cheryl's crafts and hobbies, and I made a new center counsel drop-down table top for meals, snacks and whatever between the recliners. We spend 6-7 months traveling with this arrangement each year, makes the trailer very comfortable and usable, which the original dinette setup was lacking. Many good ideas people have come up with.

Thanks v. much for sharing your photos. We have a 2016 28 International Serenity and are planning to remove the dinette & replace with a counter unit. Your renovation has already inspired us to refine our plan/design. We'll post pics once our project is completed...it may be a while as we haven't selected anyone to do the work.

New Cabinets and Recliners

We installed the Lambright love seat double electric recliner in our International CCD 28 and love it. Very light and easy to get through the door. Not cheap but high quality.
