Interior end caps

Hello, I am Larry from WVa and am brand new to this forum. The forum is great. We have recently obtained a 1970 23' safari that had a interior fire and destroyed the fiberglass end cap in front of trailer. Anyone have any idea where we might find one with or without a control panel or any alternative ideas for replacement with different material. Thanks in advance

Howdy and welcome to Airforums.com, Larry!

No idea about where to find usable original endcaps, (except possibly in our own Classifieds here) but there have been several threads about replacing them with wood.

Try out the search engine up top of this page, with, say "wood end caps" and you are sure to find lots.

I have the original endcaps from a '62 Tradewind that I won't be needing. Not sure if they are the right shape for what you are looking for.

70's vs 62

These units have different radii on the end caps and will not be compatible.

For starters I would check with Out-of-Doors Mart. They have been known to stock one or two. As I'm sure you could guess that Airstream as made many different styles, for their many different units over the years. If you do find one at a salvage yard it is only going to be limited by size. It may be very hard to find that very year but there may be many different year end caps that may fit in your unit. I would take lots of pictures and good measurements before you go.
Another thing I saw pictures of, is some stuff like what is sprayed into pick-up truck beds. A guy sent me some pictures one time (don't have them any more) where he found a company that could spray it in white. This guy built a small cabinet which was attached to the shell, covered everything that was not to be sprayed and it looked pretty darn good. It was textured but still looked pretty good.
